Christmas Time

Merry Christmas, everyone! December was a lot more hectic than I actually thought it could be, and I only ever stopped because I feel sick. I hate getting colds, and I got the worst cold up to day just on Christmas Eve...

It was actually the worst Christmas for me up to date. My boyfriend was MIA because of his family and it was the first Christmas I spent away from home, so... well, it feels rather odd. I'm incredibly sick and have the worst cold ever and it just didn't get any better this Christmas morning, without any presents whatsoever. I must have been a really naughty girl. Never the less, I've been getting my kicks out of this season.

Puppy did get loads of presents from me, and her dad says he's got her a few himself. I guess this is what it feels like to have children...? Spoiling them rotten through the holidays and forget about oneself haha. She's looking awesome with her makeover, too. She's an adorable pink dragon puppy.

My birthday's approaching and with it the end of the year. My my, 2011 was definitely the best year for me and I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for all of us.

I'm not even going to apologize this time, I'll just pop in right out of the blue and rave on.

Hey guys! It's been some CRAZY months around here, and I've felt tickled to come back to the blogosphere for a while now so hopefully it sticks now :P

So what's new on my end? I won't go into detail, but you can now I'm in college now, loving the boyfriend, having the time of my life trying to sell my house (please note the sarcasm), lost my credit card (after maxing it out once or twice) and adopted a puppy.

Puppy, I know right? After pondering about it for a while I'm afraid I may end up making this a dog blog, but seriously who cares. I know you've all missed me, haven't you? This is just a mere intro, but I swear, I swear I'll post now.

And just for shiggles, I'll introduce you to my pooch there on the right. Pretty, nay? She's my sunshine <3 She's about a year old (we don't know for sure) and a total sweetheart, I feel in love with her as soon as I met her and knew she had to be mine :'D I'll tell you more about this soon enough - I'm undergoing finals and yada... might take me a little while to get back into the swing of things and such, but I'll try my best. Either way, stay tuned and I swear I'll be back. Have a great week!

I'm such a huge liar for claiming I'll come back to the blogging world and simply not doing it haha, I have a good excuse though - I've been incredibly busy !

My boyfriend's birthday is this 3rd, and his best friend and I decided he should throw him a surprise party yesterday, on the 1st. It was such a hassle ! I simply can't remember when was the last time I had to organize a party and it was driving me up a wall - everything was going perfect though ! He had no suspicion whatsoever and all our guests had confirmed... that is, until June 30. A random chick, my boyfriend's best friend's ex, told my boyfriend via Twitter about the party. All ruined and done for ! Of course as soon as he found out he went on and on about how he needn't a party and that we shouldn't spend money on him, blah dee blah. Thank you so much mrs. ex girlfriend.

We cancelled it all and I went on a huge and dramatic rampage of "I'm going to MURDER her!" but alas, I simply didn't. We were only faking though, because we simply carried on like nothing had happened. My boyfriend once again had no clue and it was indeed a huge surprise for him. We even managed to bring in his brother who happens to live in another state and he was just blissful - we had an amazing evening dancing, drinking and simply having a great time before the clock hit 12am and... off we went to a different party ! Haha, I simply can't recall the last time I had so much fun.

The best part of it all was that we succeeded on giving him an incredible birthday party... what's best ? We have something else planned for today and, why yes, tomorrow as well ! My boyfriend is simply the most amazing guy in this world and really does deserve it, plus we all just have so much fun while at it haha.

June already... wherever did my blogging habits go? For the longest time I had planned to turn up around here and post something, but I just kept pushing it aside... What an eventful month this has been!

To begin, I'm done and over with high school - finally! I aced all my finals and did rather well, against the odds. We all thought, myself included, I'd do terribly and the like, but in a rather amusing way I did great in all of them and was done with school rather quickly. I am now free and ready for college! As for what career I'm going for - I'll simply leap onto graphic design. Simple enough, a very complicated and busy market but nevertheless I've always thought if you're good at what you do, you'll always get a job ;D

Mexico's weather is ever changing and, ironically, just 2 days after our summer solstice we've had pouring rain haha. I'm very happy about this, I find rainy weather rather ideal. In some way I've been incredibly busy but I've really been doing things I enjoy doing, so it's all good. Things with my boyfriend are going extremely well as well as with my parents and friends. It seems this summer will be the best ever, so far.

To finish my post, I'd like to share with you that I'm doing a lot of stuff to my Sophie, a total makeover, and will soon enough order my second BJD. I'm psyched! I can't wait to tell you more, but as I haven't really elaborated in my BJD blog (spanish, sorry!) I don't want to give any spoilers just yet :P

Well hello there ;D
Ah, I've been so incredibly busy this past week! School has gotten the best of me, and it's nowhere near over yet... okay, maybe it is. Next week will be my last official high school week ever - after that, I have finals and... well, you can just imagine.

Right now I've been trying to focus on my last projects and stuff I've had to turn in before the year is over; I'm seriously dreading my finals because I have no real idea of how I'll do. I have no idea if I'll fail just 2 subjects or if it's actually 3, 4 perhaps... it's nervewrecking, but whatever happens I know I earned it by being extremely lazy all year round so I deserve it and will know how to handle it.

So anyway, the other day I was rummaging in my bag for my phone and remembered I hadn't taken another "What's in your bag?" shots in almost a year so I figured it was time to do it now. For a change, it wasn't as messy as usual and I didn't even have to think about removing or "hiding" any undesirables because there were none.

Vans Bag I happen to absolutely adore.
Small binder I use for school notes + my planner.
SavvyCents wallet with random stickers :'D
Small pouch I carry all my random stuff in; travel toothbrush, mouthwash, lighter, floss, nail files and the latter.
Glass cleaning cloth for my lovely (and not pictured) glasses.
Knee pad of doom :o I've had issues with my left knee for little over a year now so I need to carry it with me just in case. It's new by the way, I lost the last one P:
The Body Shop body butter in strawberry scent + lip balm in lemon.
My makeup "basics" eyeliner, mascara, small compact with blush and eyeshadows + tinted balm.
My lovely phone tralala BB Pin anyone ?
Halls Mini Stones... so totally addicted to them.
Hairclip + earphones + housekeys.
Smokes and lighters. I usually carry about 4 lighters with me because my boyfriend tends to lose them more often than not haha.
Pencil pouch (: I actually use a bigger one with all my markers and whatnot, but just this past week I opted for something a bit more practical and only have my utter school "basics".
School ID's, my boyfriend's and mine <3

Owly kitten

For some reason, perhaps it has to do with my compulsive buying skills, I've managed to hoard up a couple of distinct fabrics here and there and I have no real idea of how to sew (which you know if you've stuck around this blog - if you didn't, now you do :P ). Yesterday I was feeling fairly unproductive and decided to do something - anything. Sewing kind of happened.

It took me sometime around 3 hours to get this little buddy together, and while he's not extremely impressive I'm happy with how he turned out. Is he an owl... is he a kitten? He was really meant to be the latter, but for some reason he just started looking like an owl as I progressed. Perhaps I should have added a little tail of sorts... just in case.

The front is this absolutely gorgeous dotted japanese linen and the back has a woodland pattern I, of course, forgot to photograph. He has odd eyes that came from buttons I simply found lying around (because I happen to have a very nice button collection as well) and the badge on his chest I got at a craft market sometime last year (: he even has a little bell inside and is really puffy and cuddly. I'm overall, very pleased with the results. Maybe I'm not so bad at sewing, I just need practice, yes?

May Plans

May already :D I have no idea whether to be scared or not haha this year is running by so quickly ! I'm at the peak of my school year, and finals will begin in no time... I never really thought I would be this nervous, but I am - I get to start college this fall and I'm honestly terrified haha.

What are your goals for May? I figured it would be nice if I set myself a list of goals and hopefully have them all done by the end of the month... what do you think? Here's what I'm hoping to accomplish this month;

Get my spending habits organized.
Be done and over with high school - do well in all my finals.
Start looking for a summer photography course and hopefully sign up.
Mail out all the letters and packages that have been piling up in the last weeks (my PO closed 2 weeks D: )
Quit smoking.
Win a battle against my sewing machine.

I think I'm being fairly realistic, yes? Everything is doable and if I set my mind to it, it all might work... the hardest one will be, yes, fix my overspending issues! Haha, hope you all have an amazing month everyone!

Of love and relationships

I've been meaning to write about this for a few days now and I figured, wherever could be best than here? What's had me thinking for a couple of days now is... why has faith in love been lost through the years?

Nowadays, you hear more news about break ups and divorce than marriages or commitments. Long-lasting relationships have been forgotten and people who venture into new relationships are even disregarded because everyone thinks "they won't last" or stuff of the like. When did this start?

When I was younger, I remember saying you had been with your couple for over a year was as saying you'd be getting married this summer - people took for granted the relationship was successful and the couple was meant for each other. Somehow, that has slowly changed and become a "you won't last a month" kinda thing - new couples are seen in an almost joking manner and everyone outside of the relationship is skeptically expecting the pair to break up in matter of weeks, months at best. Where has the faith in love gone?

In January I ended with my longest relationship up to day (although I must admit I had priorly tried to end it back in August) and everyone thought that had been it for me - no more relationships for Mesha, ever. This March I started a wonderful relationship I'm entirely and completely comfortable and happy in. My boyfriend is sweet, respectful, loving and caring - he always succeeds to make me smile and feel loved even in my darkest hours, and is just a total blessing. Yes, me the most religiously skeptical girl ever am stating my boyfriend is a blessing. I'm not saying from God or anything else... he's just a blessing from fate, and I'm very happy we crossed paths the way we did and am incredibly glad and thankful he's quickly turned into one of the key pieces in my life. Even so and having my friends and family seeing how happy we are, I've gotten quite a few "it won't last"s. Seriously, people?

I know I'm happy with him and we're both putting in our all to make things work, although they're pretty much working out on their own because even if we're not exactly on the same loop and have very different likes and dislikes, we somehow get along incredibly well and have amazing and unforgettable moments together... what does it take for the world to recognize something is really working out? Is it that hard to believe that even now in the rushed world we live, love is still around and happens for even the most random people? It's not like I, or anyone, needs the approval of the rest of the world... I simply can't understand where has the faith in love gone.

Freezing Your Debts

How many of you have a debit card? What about a credit card? Just how easy is it to use either of both without going a little over the limit and owing a bank your entire life and existence? There's this little issue I have with shopping... I overspend, and I overspend greatly.

I got my first credit card sometime this January I believe... I mean, you all knew it right? I even posted about it here, I think. I has feeling all high and mighty and started using it without really considering what it would be like to be in debt... well, I am now.

A few months ago I was used to going out with cash in my pocket or not going out at all because, sincerely I just love buying random stuff here and there and knowing I was unable to just didn't do it - window shopping is one of my favorite things to do when I know I can simply go back and get it when I'm done eyeing other places. With no money in my pocket, how was I to even enjoy wasting my time at some mall? That's changed.

With the coming of my credit card, I can now freely go out and about with nothing but $5 in my pocket (which pays a cab from my place to the mall and back) and be sure I'll come back home with at least a pair of shoes and 2 new shirts. Whenever did this happen? What's worse - it doesn't matter what or where, I will always buy something. Always. I never carry cash in my wallet now, not even when I go to school because I either have a packed lunch or drop by Starbucks at 7am to buy something there. Yep, with my credit card.

It wouldn't be a real issue if I had the money to actually pay for everything I spend, or even a job - but I don't have either! Every month the amounts of money I spend have gone outrageously high, and it almost seems like it's going gradually because the debt I had last month simply doesn't compare to the one I had 2 months ago but it's exponentially smaller than this month's... I can only wonder, when will it stop?

Do you have any tips on saving? Simply stop using your credit card? I've considered the freezing method - you know, desperately putting your card in water and off to the freezer it goes, but that really can't happen for me because I happen to pay each and every single meal of mine with said card (that has to do with my parents not bothering to give me lunch money) and I'm always out on the street with nothing but that plastic thing tucked into my wallet waiting to be used... It's come to the point where all my friends have agreed "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is definitely based off my life haha... I can't help but wonder, when will I find the actual will to stop spending money this way?

Why hello there! It's been months, and I figured I'm pretty much ready to get back into this blogging thing I seem to be so bad at.

I've been incredibly busy with school and such, and having lazed around more than enough I'll have to busy myself even more this coming month if I don't want to get the worst grades ever. Things at home seem to be going fine, I've gotten slightly more involved in chores (my mother was never one to "discipline" us giving each of her children chores) and stuff of the like and my relationship with both my parents has gotten even better than it was, which I'm thankful for.

We got a puppy (: Another one, I know. She's a 2 month old (young, yes) white boxer puppy named Lola. We're supposed to move out on July or so and hopefully have a big enough patio / yard to have her running around, since she'll be quite the big girl.

She's fairly well behaved and loves getting cuddly, I could even say she's the first dog my mom doesn't utterly hate (she's not exactly an animal lover) and my family enjoys watching her come and go in the living room / garden area thing. I'm really eager to move out and have her live with us, because she spends most of the time over at my brother's and I only get to see her in the weekends D:

Whatever else might be relevant for a little catching up? I could talk to you about my boyfriend, but I think he deserves a slightly more special post :P Being in love is... well, it's pretty amazing. I had long forgotten the sensations real love could give you and I'm enjoying them at their best right now. He's incredibly special and I could just talk about it all day long if I could haha.
I think this is it for a blog post - I'll try to come back in due time with hopefully interesting blog posts, yes? Hope you're all having a great spring!

Goals

Hello everyone, how is 2011 treating you ? I'll just say it's turned out to be a rather eventful start of the year, in all the good and bad ways. Today I'm crushed, but as I look ahead of me, everything seems to make sense and I think I can make it out of this one. I know I can.

For the now, I've been working on my goals for this year. I don't say resolutions because I've never quite grasped the concept of hoping for something to happen just by sheer thoughtfulness. I have goals for 2011, goals I'll work hard to achieve - because even if they sound silly, it's basically what I'm hoping for this year. It's my last teen after all, isn't it.. ? That being said, here are a few of my goals for this year - by the end, I hope I can look back and have this list completely ticked off.

Read 1 book every other week.
Write at least 1 chapter for any of my works in progress per week.
Learn how to sew ( for real this time P: ).
Learn to properly manage, save and spend my money. I have shopping issues.
Make a photoproject - which, I have yet to figure out.
Get a full wardrobe for the Soph.
Get a bed / nice "room" for the Soph.
Get a full wardrobe for Angie.
Get Angie ' 3 '
Start proper Korean lessons.
Be more organized ( I need this desperately ).
Get a DSLR <3
Blog at least once a week.
Get a real job.
Begin baking courses.
Take one of those fancy TOEFL kinda tests.
Save up to get Liam.
Stop wanting anymore dolls.
Travel to the US.
Be more responsible, school and home-wise.
Look out for myself.

These are just a few of the goals I've set for myself this far. Some might sound utterly ridiculous ( like saving up to get Liam :'D and THEN stop wanting more dolls ) but it's just something I've got to do. I figured, I always sit back and watch life go by... and sure that's wonderful and I love being able to kick back and be chill about, mostly, everything; but that just seems so.. old ? This is my last teen, and while it may have nothing to do with age itself (since it's just a relative number and yadda ) I feel like I've sat around long enough. This is my last half of the year in high school, so why not trying to become a somehow responsible and active person from now on ?

I need help. Lots of it.

Hello there ! Ahh, this feels a little cozier than that I'm certain only a handful of people might be reading *laughs lightly* I don't think fame is for me at all.
laughs*. Personally, I don't have resolutions, rather than goals. 2011 is a big year for me and I plan to take advantage of every minute of it !

Minecraft or nap the evening away. Roleplaying has always been fun to me and it's even better now that I've made a really nice friend through it. I love meeting new and interesting people whom I have stuff in common ♥

coughs* going back to the huge importance of 2011 I should at least give 2010 some closure. 2010, you were a wonderful year full of school suckage, dead Burritos (Burrito passed away on the 23rd sadface ): ), lots of drama and overall - a good year. *laughs* Yes, 2010 was above all odds, a good year. I got my Sophie and made amazing friends and reconnected with an awesome friend I seriously missed. No matter anything wrong that may have happened before, 2010 was a good year.

And now 2011 - so much happening ( hopefully ) this year ! I'll be finally graduating from High School ( took me long enough, ikr ?! ), getting a steady job ( I swear I will ! ), finally starting my official Korean lessons ( YAY ) and I will also, of course, start college this fall and I'm terrified because I have mixed feelings about my career - say awesome or what ? *laughs*

Absence and a password.

Hello everyone !

I know I've been absent for over half a month, and although I believe there really isn't an excuse for it, I'm going to say it anyway P: My laptop died. It died and went to laptop heaven - it was brought back to life after 2 weeks, but most of my data was gone and there was only so much I could save. Ah, sadness. There really isn't more to it than the fact that I almost lost my mind without being able to be online properly (other than my phone and someone else's computer). I'm in my winter break now, even. Lots of free time, but sadly, not invested here.

Yes, I'm going to be that girl again and drop the business right here. Dulceholic will still run, however it will be private now. I will post only a few times a month and only certain people will get to actually read any of it. Who ? Well, getting access is rather simple. From today, December 16th and onto December 24th, I'll be taking down emails either through comments, my email or Etsy convo and will send out the password to access the blog to those people by December 25th. Basically, you choose if you want to stay a part of this blog or not :)

This has been a rather difficult decision to make, and maybe it's wrong but it could be temporary. I don't know, I might be open to my whole public again someday :'D So there you have it, leave your email or any other way to contact you so I can email you passwords and stuff - from December 25th on, Dulceholic will be a private blog.

Sick Weekend

Sick. So sick ! And sadly, not the awesome Ne-yo song D: I'm just terribly sick and have been for a good five days now. So not cool ! I'm very convinced it's all my parents' fault, too P:

Last Saturday we went to visit my family in another state. You know how those 3hour car rides are kindof a family favorite over here. Pffft~ My parents went to bed early, but I totally decided to stay up until 2am helping my aunt to put up her Christmas tree and outside lights. It was very fun, but I was also freezing up majorly. The house looked pretty, though :'D

The next day we had a little picnic thing and went horse riding, bike riding and whatever the not. Sophie had a nice photoshoot there (first time in the woods♥ ) but she broke her glasses due to the major carrying I had to deal with ._. I never thought it would be so hard to walk around with her, but it is ! She isn't too big or heavy, but I'm constantly freaking out about ruining her hair or losing her glasses and due to my terribly bad luck, I broke them ;_; we were shooting and I picked her up, her glasses fell and I stepped on them in a tiny freak out.

Ah well, I fixed them up but ordered a new pair for her anyway. Also a carriage bag ! I plan to attend meets and cons with her next year so it would be superb to be able to take her everywhere safely instead of smushing her in my arms hoping for the best :'D Either way yes - as a result of this tremendous weekend, I've been very ill and have the need to hide under my blankets 24/7, which isn't the best idea considering I need to go to school and the like. Winter break, please hurry~ !

Sophie is home !

Yes, yes, YES ! I'll just pretend you had been waiting for this with as much anticipation as I was :P My BJD came today !
After a terrible wait of almost 3 weeks, she finally showed up this afternoon ! I was so nervous I had to re-take a million pictures of her box opening (link for DOA users) and had a very hard time getting her dressed, as it's my first time ever handling a BJD.

I just can't believe how perfect she is ! Her body is extremely realistic and her face is so gentle ! Sometimes she looks like she's smiling and it makes me giggle, she's just amazing :D

The eyes most BJDs come with are chosen at random, but I was ecstatic to see Iplehouse even sent the color eyes I "suggested" in my message for them :D Isn't she just amazing ?! Sheesh, I just can't get enough of her pretty face. She's even staring at me right now as I type this and I want to snuggle her majorly.

Yay for Sophie being home at last !

Simple Natural Soap

Ohhaii :D Ahh, the weekend is finally here and with it my opportunity to sit around and do nothing :D ! No but really, at least I can slow down the pace during the weekend :'D I have nothing in mind other than maybe decorating my Christmas tree (the one in my room) or making a little something for someone special P: For the now I'll talk to you about my favorite scrub-stuff. Yup, soap !

You know I've always been all up for handmade soap, especially off Etsy. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity of trying soap from my friend Katie over at Simple Natural Soap ! Now now, her site is off Etsy and it's actually hosted in her very own domain, and maybe it's just me, but I find it terribly exciting to buy stuff off people's own domains. I'm just weird like that P:

I got two bars off Katie a few months ago - Oatmeal and Green Tea. I wouldn't really know how the oatmeal one was because my brother stole it as soon as he got home (yes, my very picky brother LOVED the scent) and I haven't heard of it ever since. The one I use is the Green Tea with vitamin E bar, and I must tell you I love it to death and back. It was the first time I fell in love with a soap so much, I'm not ever going back to conventional mass-produced soap - no joke ! It's actually funny because I want to order more asap, but my lovely Katie sent me a soap saver along with my purchase and I had never tried one before. My do they save ! It's been over 1 month since I got my soap and the bar still has lots left to it - I had never had a bar last that long, and I'm the type of girl who loves to lather up and look like a walking snowman :P

I promise this isn't shameless promo and Katie isn't paying me or anything for this review (although she muchly should P: haha jk honey !) it's just truly the first time I've fallen in love with a bar of soap (forbidden love ?) and I had been meaning to post about it. Yay for awesome natural soap ! :D

Tiny phone

You know what's not fair ? Spending countless hours working on something and having life take it away from you.
Now I'm just being over dramatic, but really. A few weeks ago I made this tiny thingy for my girl (who is still missing, btw). It's not too shabby for a first attempt, and I personally thought it was kindof adorable. It's great to toy with when you're bored and since it actually flips and flops, I had a blast making it.

Blurriness aside, I love it. My maid "cleaned" my desk (read: put everything she found on the floor / windowsill on the desk and dusted) and lost my tiny phone in the process. I'm heartbroken - it wasn't perfect, but it was going to be my model for future attempts :(

Oh my, one week without posting ! This is seriously not okay, but I'm trying guys ! I had no clue I had exams upcoming and this week was seriously mean on my brain and I was stressed to the max :/ it was also a great week though !

I got the package with my girl's clothing yesterday ! I was really excited and loved every tiny bit, although I'm not sure if anything will fit because she's not home yet haha. There's an issue between Korea Post and Mexican Post, so the tracking numbers never update and I've been on the edge of my seat wondering when she'll be here. It's only been a week + 1 day since she shipped, so I shouldn't worry about it. We have a 3 day weekend so she might get here this Tuesday or Wednesday :)

Size comparison ! :D That's my favorite item out of the bunch I got for her - and I didn't even get it haha. It was a gift for her I was all giggly and stuff when I opened it. It's the softest thing on earth and I know she'll look gorgeous in it ! I compared the size with my phone because I like to assume we've all touched / seen one of those before(and it was either that or a decorative marble egg... yeah...).

Ah, I can't wait for my girl to be here. I'm the most anxious girl on the face of earth right now ! I'll be sure to let you guys know as soon as she's home, and I also am fixing up my schedule to fit in school projects and a little "me" time. If I can do that, I can add blog time too. Musical atmospheres

Ah guys, busy and very eventful week ! I'm glad it's Friday already, even after the 4 day weekend and only 3 school days I must say this week was hella long and hectic ! Enjoying my days off now (: I have the most exciting news ! Even though the usual processing time for a BJD is 20 days minimum, my girl shipped just after day 4 after payment - she's on her way here ! I'm so happy ! I just hope her clothes get here first - they shipped on Tuesday so I hope they get here before she does !

And now, this is something I've always wanted to talk about, it's just tricky to do it so I'm hoping I can explain myself properly. Have you ever felt different while listening to your favorite music ? It's true that it can affect our moods, but have you ever felt.. transported, by music ?

Ever since I recall having a likeness for music, I used to nod off listening to my favorite bands. I was totally into The Used and My Chemical Romance back then (typical emo moment, bite me ;D ) and listening to them into late hours of the night while in bed.. it just took me to another place ! I used to write romantic fictional stories because I was all into them and many took place in the suburbs. A Suburbia unlike mine and more movie-ish, I could feel transported and easily imagined myself walking down those streets. Does this sound too crazy already ?

My musical tastes have changed overtime, but the same sensations remain. Anything and everything by the amazing Nujabes(RIP) takes me to the amazing empty, moonlit streets of Tokyo; stuff by Natasha Bedingfield makes me feel like I'm walking under the sun even if I'm not a huge fan of it. Boys Like Girls, even if I'm not their greatest fan, remind me of a New York cafe - and I've never been to one !

Beyond, by Nujabes. One of my favorite songs of the now, and doesn't it make you feel just floaty and amazing ? If you want to listen / watch this video while you read also go to this site and play the music along the sound that loops there. You can do it with any song and it sounds great ! Try closing your eyes next time you're listening to music, sit back and relax - enjoy the wonders of it and tell me where your tunes get you !

Happy Halloween everyone ! :D What did you dress up as ? Did you go trick or treating ? Took your kids ? Are still out instead of reading my lovely blog ? P: This Halloween just caught me off-guard and I honestly didn't feel like dressing up :( Last year was a totally different story, but now I'm just not motivated... even so, I hope you're having a great time partying up tonight and end up overdosing in candy :D

My day has been so eventful ! First of all, I got to order my baby girl today ! I'm so excited I can barely sit up haha I keep bouncing off the walls and I just wish she'd be home now ! >.< Much for my luck I ordered her at 12am Korea time, so I have to wait until people over there actually wake up and take my order haha :'D I also ordered clothes and shoes for her, but the site needs to manually invoice me and they're also Korean so they won't invoice me until their morning >.< I hate time differences when I'm waiting for something :D I also won a giveaway over at Cute Cheap Clean and I'm really happy, this Sunday has been pretty nice for a change !

I made this little baggie for her ! It's not exactly perfect and the inside seams are pretty crappy. I have no real clue if it's in scale either, but you know I'm a sewing newbie so I'll try to practice lots while she gets here ! Lots of BJD owners sew clothes for their dolls, and I hope someday I can give mine something nice and cute :) So far I have a tutu planned out, they're hella simple and no-sew so I'm just hoping I'll be able to get the materials for it soon (: hitting the fabric store soon !

It's Friday !! Guys, you have no idea of just how I've been longing for Friday; well, actually for Sunday, but formalities aside - TGIF ! Halloween's coming and with it some great news, aren't you just thrilled ? I also am proud and almost cocky to say I'm enjoying a 4 day weekend because of our internationally known Día de los Muertos and it will be awesome. I get to spazz over BJD clothes and accessories through these 4 days, not to mention I'll be ordering my baby this Sunday ! Speaking of which...

I knitted my baby her very first scarf ! :D It's also my first attempt at finger knitting, and even if it's fairly easy I must confess I learned I shouldn't try it while I'm chatting - it just doesn't compute. Anyway, I think it turned out just lovely and I'm hoping it will fit her when she's here. It's not exactly too long or chunky, but since I haven't been able to hold her yet (duh !) I have no real clue of her dimensions. Here's to hoping !

Mobile blogging - help ?

Crazy busy and skipped school again, this won't look okay in my record ! I've been working nonstop all week long and today I just skipped because my gut told me to and I'm quite enjoying my day off, even if it means I'll have to chase teachers around tomorrow to hand in assignments I had due today. Yes, you shouldn't let your high schoolers read my blog, I'm a bad influence P: Only kidding, though !

I was going through some of my first entries and realized I haven't raved about makeup in like, forever ! Why I haven't though, is because I have nothing ! I haven't even gone to a mall in like.. weeks ! Last time I went 'shopping' was to get my Blackberry, and after that I haven't stepped in a mall ! It's kinda sad, but the holiday season is approaching and even if I'd like to spend all my money on stuff for my baby, I'm also saving up to start mad shopping as soon as December comes ! I'm glad I have one present down heh, for my older brother (:

I had also ordered something for my sister in law on eBay, but alas - it's not here yet ! It's started to worry me and I'll message the seller soon. It's nothing major or anything, however I did spend a good $20 bucks in it and I'd at least like to know where they are !

Does anyone have any clue of how to go about mobile blogging.. from my country ? I know you can do it via SMS in the US, but same rule doesn't apply to international residents and that's annoying, especially since my Blackberry doesn't support Blogger :/ Help !

Falling for Fall

So fall is finally here. It has been for a while, true, but weather in my area is still hot and sunny as can be during the day and can get really icy at night / morning. This being the closest to fall I can get, I'm still unsure about how much colder it will get BUT I love winter wear so I'll share a few finds with you ! First of all, you gotta know I'm a huge fan of Asian fashion, and my number 1 pick when shopping for this is YesStyle.com - I just love the endless possibilities and huge variety of this site ! Before the JID craze started, I spent my days browsing for nice winter wear and found a few favorites.

The cardigan above is just like one I've been lusting over in my dreams - the color is a bit too un-autumny but I like it anyway, plus I've always wanted a pink bike with a basket ! YesStyle doesn't sell bikes though, boo !

I love long pullovers, cardigans or tees. Seriously, I'd only wear them if I had enough to go around for weeks ! So far I only have about 7 long shirt-dresses and a long pullover my Bunneh got me as a gift a few months ago. I'm so up for a heavy and snuggly long pullover this year !

I've got a confession to make - I'm obsessed with boots. Any type of closed high heel will always get my attention, and I haven't treated myself to nice pair of shoes in MONTHS ! (I only wear sneakers for school so... ) I've been thinking about a nice pair of calf-high boots and YesStyle is always there for me to lust over stuff I can't have ! ):

Forgot my clothes

A week without posting ! I can assure you I have very good reasons for this, though. Life has been just hectic for me, first it was exams week and then things at home were just crazy and depressing. Having a 15 year old brother who would rather just open his mouth to squeal murder other than say how he truly feels or acting like a reasonable being is just.... hard. Things have been seriously crazy around here but I'm finally safe now !

Safe is a manner of speech though, as I caught some tummy bug that's making me throw up whatever I eat so I stayed home today P: Do you want to know just what I've been up to ?

Yesterday was one of those days that just never seem to end but are going at a 100x speed. For some random reason I forgot we had to take our grade pictures - we had been asked to dress in formal black and white. What do I do ? Just totally forget and get school in my random everyday uniform with a bad hairdo. Oh my god. For some freak reason, and thinking it's because it was better for them, our principal gave us permission to get out of school and come back dressed. You really don't know how much this means for us, because private schools in Mexico will NEVER allow a student to walk out during class. It was intense ! In less than 20 minutes, a friend and I were back in campus, running around fixing everyone's makeup and helping whatsherface with her hair. Crazy I tell you ! I was (as usual) in denial of having any pics taken other than the officials, so instead I'll just show you how pretty my friend Diana and her best friend looked. Lalala P:

As a very early birthday gift, my dad agreed to give me one of my most coveted treasures - a ball jointed doll (BJD) and let me tell you, not just any BJD but an Iplehouse Doll ! You have no idea of how much and just for how long I've been wanting one, but since I'm such a good girl my dad said I deserved her ! He's overall humored by the whole issue, because I was never a play-doll girl and just as I grew up my liking for these beauties rocketed. The sculpt I've chosen is one of their Juvenile Iplehouse Dolls (JID) "I" - they're a Korean brand and I lusted over their other JID girls, but just now and for some odd reason I decided I need to own little "I". She looks gorgeous in her brand mp, doesn't she ?

The great thing about these type of dolls (BJDs) is that you can do anything you want with them. Their bodies are extremely poseable and they're 100% customizable. From head - their wigs- to their very toes, you can do just about anything you wish for them ! The downfall on the model I chose, is that Iplehouse isn't a huge brand on the market, so the available clothing options for JIDs aren't very wide; even if this could be considered a hardship, I'm excited about the challenge this represents and I just can't wait to have her in my arms ! I've already chosen a name for her, but I'll reveal it up until she's safely home with me - I get to order her this 31st so she's home by early December. (These dolls are made to order and the processing time is 20-30 business days !)

Had you ever heard of BJDs ? Maybe you actually own one or, like me, are coveting a special sculpt ? I'm not entirely sure of how it will be like to have her with me, but I just know I'll love her to bits !

Holiday Swapping over at Swap-bot.com

Have you ever done trades or participated in organized swaps ? If so, you may know of the website Swap-Bot.com; if you don't... well, Swap-Bot is a large community of people who swap handmade creations or store-bought stuff within a certain theme all over the world. The most common swap items are postcards, ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) and many other flat items that are relatively easy and inexpensive to mail, so swapping is just a fun experience for everyone and you have nothing to lose !

Okay, maybe you do can lose at times... not everyone is trustworthy and you might get flaked on, which is basically having your swap partner(s) not send anything to you - it's terribly looked down upon and chances are that if it wasn't a super expensive or time-intensive swap you'll have a nice soul angel your swap (send a make up package for you).

Thankfully, I never had to deal with a flaker and only had 2 (very) disappointing swaps, but I was part of an amazing group called Harajuku Girls that seriously rocked and every time I had a sad experience they'd make up for it ! I met wonderful bloggers Oli & Krys over there !

The reason why I dropped swapping was because I love big, sometimes expensive swaps and they were pretty time intensive so I couldn't juggle swapping with school and everything (I admit, I over committed and had to deal with 10+ swaps at times !). Eventually I had to stop swapping, but it's seriously hella fun and I honestly miss it, so I signed back up for a couple of holiday swaps ! Colgate Wisp and new earrings

Busy as can be ! Do you remember your high school days ? This last year is seriously kicking my fantastic, I've been so caught up with projects and tests ! I'm undergoing my bimonthly exams right now and they're hella hectic. Amidst the crazy, I got awesome mail I'm totally in love with.

Cutest earrings ever ? Yes. I got them from my friend Danni and I just loooove them ! I got so many compliments for them today I actually lost count by 10am. Yay for pretty earrings ! :D

Have you ever heard of or tried Colgate WISP ? They're mini on-the-go disposable toothbrushes with a little freshening bead, no rinsing needed as it leaves no residues in your mouth. I must admit I was slightly skeptical after hearing of these, but had no way to personally try them since they don't sell them here - I'm sure they've been out there for everyone else for about a year or two. Mexico, you're so slow !

Either way, with a little help from my friend eBay, I got a 4ct pack of Spearmint WISP to give them a go. I really must admit I'm not comfortable with the fact of using them to basically just swish around the brush and swallow whatever comes out of the bead basing off the fact the freshening / cleaning liquid doesn't even lather, so it's just as popping an Ice-Breaker bead in your mouth.

Nevertheless, I was impressed. I tried one of the little brushes as soon as I got a hold of them and I really enjoyed the freshening sensation, my teeth felt clean and, well, refreshed. In an odd fashion, I just can't get over the fact you have to swallow the thing, but other than that I must admit I'm slightly thrilled over them because I thought they'd never come in handy - until this morning I had to talk to one of my professors after eating a tuna sandwich !

You truly just never know. Have you ever bought one of those handy-but-i'll-never-really-use-it things that you ended up using ? My bags are full with them !

Eat Pray Love and a Pinkberry

I'm sorry I was M.I.A. the whole week, but I can assure you I had good reasons for it !

First of all, I went out with Sandra on Wednesday to watch Eat Pray Love - now, I haven't read the book but plan to do so soon, but I must say I loved it. It was pretty fun and it's one of those movies that make you reflect upon yourself. I can't wait to get a hold of the book ! Have you watched the movie or read the book ? Did you like it ?

Aaaand guess what ? Yes ! I finally have my Blackberry phone ♥ I chose a lovely white Curve and I love love love it. I've been keeping this from Greg so he has no clue yet, but he'll find out pretty soon I can tell haha - he loves stalking my blog P:

Isn't it lovely ? I got a pretty Ed Hardy faceplate for it and it's just all shiny and awesome. It's taken me a tad to get used to it and set up all the settings, but so far so good and I love it. Good mail days - what's taken so long ?!

After two and a half weeks of waiting, our packages got here ! Our packages as in Burrito's and mine. Maybe you recall me asking for assistance to get some hamster treats for him, and my always amazing friend Danni helped us ! She sent a box full of hamster rejoice and I can't tell you just how happy Burrito is - wanna see for yourselves ?

Yes, that is how a happy hamster looks. Rather, a happy hamster's hiney. And let me tell you, he's not the only happy recipient ! My texana also sent me a couple of samples from The Copper Bee I'm dying to try - and the sweetest little pin back button from Oki Tokki I'm totally in love with.

The magic just never ends, as I also got the fabrics I ordered last week and am bouncing off the walls to start sewing ! I plan to do it as soon as I'm free of school projects which should be relatively soon - this weekend I hope. Any free patterns for sewing newbies you can recommend ? Maybe a little pouch ? I can already tell I'll have so much fun !

DIY Stickers

For the longest time I've been looking for someone to make custom stickers for me. When I say for the longest time - I mean it ! My brother found me browsing Etsy for the longest time the other day and went with "And why don't you just make them yourself ?" - I had to admit, he had a point.

So I went on and modified one of my banner designs and added my url - I guess I didn't do an excellent job because they turned out slightly pixelated, but I think they're great for a first try !

How do you go about making your own stickers ? It's just as easy as going to your local office supply store and buying sticker paper to use in your color printer with any design you wish to sticker-up :D I made these 1 inch square stickers to promote my blog and hand cut each of them - cheated with an xacto blade for cutting strips and then cut each square with my scissors. I have yet to round the corners of each tiny sticker but I'll do that later :P Mine aren't waterproof so I'll be weary of spilling anything over them or licking them haha I'm sure buying glossy sticker paper will do the trick - I'll think about it next time :D If you're going for a long shot, you can even get transparent self-adhesive paper and they'll look amazing !

Like I mentioned before, I haven't been doing great at school and my math class isn't an exception. As a result of my laziness, I refused to do my coursework yesterday and since we had two math periods (50 minutes each) right next to each other I decided to do something productive with my time - as productive as relabelling my water bottle :D

Okay, maybe it's not exactly productive, but it's better than nothing ! Spanish 101 - Agua means water and that reads Mesha's water. Yay :D

A little angel

This week I've been quite out of myself. There's a lot going on in my head, but at the time there's.. well, nothing in particular. This has been going on for a while, so I'm merely guessing I need to settle down and organize my life a little - I don't think I did great this month at school so I have lots to work on. Even Etsy has noticed I'm not myself lately.

I giggled when I read that haha, I guess I was just not paying attention at all. Ah well.

I have slightly bad news and also a good one, want to know about it ? The bad news are mainly personal - my 8 month old cousin passed away this Wednesday and that shook me off majorly. He had Down's Syndrome and had to undergo heart surgery, which he didn't make it out of. It's overall heartbreaking, but we're all glad he's in a better place now - Leo was an angel that blessed us for a couple of months and personally, I'm very proud to say I got to spend time with him, even if little.

As for the good news - I'm still thinking about the giveaway and will probably post it next week, I just need ideas ! For the time being, I'll enjoy my quiet weekend and try to catch up on my reading and homework - yay for being a teenager ! (not).

Maid Cafe Nivel 10

I applied for a job at a maid cafe. Oh yes, I did. Don't know what maid cafes are ? They're a subbranch of cosplay cafes - waitresses dress up as maids and often greet and call the customers "master" and "mistress". If you want to know more about them in general go check out the almighty wiki page on this.

This maid cafe I'm applying to, Nivel 10 (Level 10) is quite possibly the only maid cafe in Mexico City, and I was just so thrilled to hear about it I started writing up my email application as soon as I read they're hiring at the moment ! I'm pretty sure the spots will be filled up by now and my application probably won't be considered for a handful of reasons - first, I like 30+ minutes away from the cafe and my schedule allows me to work from 4pm on only, while they're open from 12pm to 8pm.

Secondly, maids are supposed to be pretty. Overlooking their Facebook page, I got to see a few pictures of some of the maids working there and I must admit a couple of them are really pretty, so that's probably a point against me. Then and pretty much finally, you're supposed to treat your customers nicely and help them feel at home and relaxed, which definitely isn't a strong point of mine because I tend to be on the snarky side when I'm under pressure.

Even so, I still applied and hopefully will hear back from them. I have never personally dropped by the cafe but plan to do it soon with a friend. I'd like to meet the maids in person and check out their service - they also have a butler but aren't hiring any new butlers. I honestly wonder why, it would be a sweet concept to have maids and butlers in the cafe but for now there's only 5 maids and 1 butler. Time will tell, for I'll keep my eye over Nivel 10.

Bittersweet Tuesday

Bittersweet days are, in my opinion, what makes me just think about how amazing life is. My Tuesday was of course, bittersweet.

I woke up late for school but I'm usually allowed to wander in by 7:50am - I figured I'd just wait until then but I obviously fell back asleep at 7:30. Thank you Murphy. This was obviously followed by my parents scolding me and me sleeping in until veeery late. How bitter.

That was until my doorbell made me shoot myself downstairs and open the door for no other than, drumroll please, my DHL guy ! And he handed me my ever so spiffy card - my very first credit card ! Went through all the process of activating it and all that jazz. I feel like such a grown up now it's hilarious - sweet as can be.
I got that credit card because my parents think I'm mature enough to take care of my random spendings - unnecessary clothing, makeup and other appliances. No matter how much I swear they're all necessary, they just don't get it ! :P So I have to pay every penny that is spent with my new card; grasping the sad reality behind this, I headed out to meet a couple of my neglected Mary Kay clients and came back home empty handed and with very low spirits. Bitter again.

As I was disheartened by having failed with my tiny business, I kept nipping at everything and just couldn't manage to cheer myself up - having gotten nothing in the mail (as I'm expecting quite a few packages) I couldn't just grasp a nice thing about my day and the card thing seemed like months ago until I spoke with Sandra - I might go out with her again next week to watch Eat Pray Love - I'm already excited. Kiss my butt, bittersweet Tuesday.

Fabric shopping anxiety

I'm the perfect example of why you need to be a patient shopper. Through all these years of never being able to keep a penny in my pocket, I thought I had managed to master the art of browsing shops (brick and mortar as much as online) thoroughly before deciding to purchase something.

Well I was wrong haha - I just spent a good 30 minutes pondering if I should get rainbow film for my Instax or buy a few fat quarters of cutesy fabric. I ended up buying the fabric, and just a second after completing the Paypal transaction, I found the cutest set of vintage mugs in Owl Tracks. I seriously whined about it for like 10 minutes, you can ask Greg. On the bright side of things, and now that I'm slightly more eased, I can happily say I love the fabric I got at stefaniexu and I can't wait for it to get here. Bipolar shopper much ? P:

Pink bunnies ftw. I decided to order these super simple cotton designs while I get a few other locally - I've made it a goal of mine to try and find a thrift shop where I can get vintage fabric or something of the sort. I've never really worked with fabrics or sewn more than a basic zippy pouch or something, but the fabric I've liked best out of the little fabrics I've handled has definitely been Japanese linen and cotton blends. These babies are just cotton (typography one is linen), but even so I'm pretty sure they'll be bliss to work with.

Sewing streams

Hey guys ! Ahh, this week's been bliss - how come ? Well, I'm currently in the middle of my 5 day weekend and pretty much loving it. Oh yes, 5 days of pure nothingness. Okay maybe not that much - I've had to reorganize my desk, do homework and all that kinda stuff I have been neglecting for the past few weeks.

A while ago, and I can't remember if I ever mentioned it, I got a sewing machine - a very basic and almost play sewing machine haha, it was $25 at Walmart. Seriously. I had a very hard time fixing the tension and whatever not, and I have yet to master it so it's been stored back into its box after only a few days of being used. I wish I wouldn't procrastinate so much - I like crafts, but I've never been the type of girl who begins and actually finishes something.

Have you ever watched live broadcasts ? Online, I meant. The other day, Greg came up with a very nice way of watching films or random shows together; I'm pretty sure anyone who's ever watched the Legally Blonde movies will remember the scene when Elle and Emmett are watching a movie together and talking about it over the phone - well, Greg simply streams a movie over his LiveStream channel for us. Isn't he just the sweetest ? We watched Ponyo which I'm pretty sure is illegal, but what happens over a stream should stay within the stream, right ? :P I'm mentioning this because an Etsy friend of mine, Prairie Ghost, often streams her crafting time and you can watch her toy around with her beads in her Ustream channel. I too have a stream, but it's a secret because I have yet to figure out how to use it properly P:

Lilacs and Burrito

So I'm here to share one of my latest Burrito videos of the now - he's just too cute for words and this vid is the most fun by far. He's a lot more tame now, with the occasional nom of the Mesha, and likes to run around a lot. Fairly too much, I'd say - on Sunday night, my sister-in-law and I were playing with him, as a result his cage was left open and he happily walked out, somehow falling off the desk and wandering around our home without my acknowledgement.

Got a wonderful call at 8:30am while in class, saying how loud both my mom and dad had squealed when they saw a red-eyed critter fluffing up on the stairs, trying desperately to crawl up a step. Bad Burrito.

All of this just makes me think of one of my new bestest Etsy chat friends - Katie, the mastermind behind Lilacs and Lace. In less than 2 weeks we've become great friends and always feel the need to spazz when one of us logs into chat; we also share a lot of likes, and the love for giving our boyfriends, her fiancé, weird nicknames. (If you're reading this, hi Toast !) How you can know Katie is just badass ?

Mary Kay 2010 Fall Collection - Metro Chic

Omg guys ! So this post's props go directly to beautycrazed, an amazing co-oped blog I try to read as often as I can - I about had a stroke and totally shared this over MSN with whomever was online at the time. Lol. Mary Kay is launching a few new products for this fall ! Yes yes yes, I'm totally ecstatic about this new collection because it's SO not for ladies anymore ! Haha I've always had a thing for Mary Kay cosmetics, as half their skin care is directed at mature women and their color line is as well a little on the mature side - they surprised me majorly with the last few additions to the collection (Teal eyeshadow anyone ?) and now I'm surprised tenfold, not to mention just super excited !

The new products being launched are 2 bronzers, 3 eyeshadow sticks, 2 lip glosses, 3 nail enamels + top & base coats and a purple liquid eyeliner ! Yes sir, purple !

I have no real clue of when all of these will launch here - so far I know it's out in Canada and am really crossing my fingers for October to bring us the new pretties ! Yay for Fall collections and thanks again to Lisamarie for the awesome news !

As usual, Metro Chic also has a lovely envelope clutch that comes with a clip-on lip gloss you can get with your $40 purchase - it usually sounds like a lot here in Mexico, but I wouldn't exactly care haha I loved it ! They hardly ever use such striking colors - I'm definitely in love with Metro Chic !

My neighbor's kitten

My neighbor's kitten, whose name remains unknown, is pure evil. On Saturday afternoon my brother, grossed out by anything with fur, called out desperately to me as the little tuft sneaked into our living room - as I picked him up I squealed in delight and had to resist the urges to just rub him all over my face. So soft and fluffy ! I'm glad I was able to keep calm and you know, normal; for, he's evil.

This pic just doesn't do justice to the 3 bleeding marks he left. I haven't owned a cat in nearly 10 years, so I guess I had forgotten about this little trait of those fluffies. I can't really adopt a kitten because of my mom's allergies, but that doesn't stop me from harassing my new neighbor. He's totally silky to the touch, and he's also won confidence to just strut into my house whenever he feels like it.

Today I had to take him out because we were about to have lunch, and as I did so he tried to run away - hence the itty bitty scratches I'm making a hot fuzz about. He's just so mean ! Even so, I find him utterly adorable and love his big big eyes. Don't you just feel like snuggling him forever ? I'm secretly hoping he'll keep hanging by my place more often, I want to get better pics of them as he grows and - yes - gets fluffier.

How to create a Facebook like page - tutorial~

This post is a tutorial I came up with since it's a common question in Etsy chat - I do know there must be a few hundreds of these out there, but still :P I'll put a jump break on this because it might be image heavy and I don't want to overload the homepage :D The pics look kinda small but you can click them to make them bigger ! (As pretty much every image in my posts P: )

How to create a Facebook like page for your business ?

Creating a Facebook like page is fairly easier than everyone thinks, and you just need to follow a few steps before getting your page going !

Step One - Go to this page and focus on the "Official Page" column. Here, you'll get to pick an option for what your page will be about - you can choose any of the three but if you have an Etsy, Artfire or other online business, click the "Brand, product or organization" option and from the drop down menu that will pop, choose "Online Store".

Keep your "Page Name" short and sweet, for example, when I created mine I chose "Dulceholic" rather than "Dulceholic; your sweetest addiction". It's just easier to remember and I'm not entirely sure if you can actually change it, so don't name your page something you'll later regret !

Step Two - and actually, the last step ! You'll be prompted to add an image for your page - you can change this as many times as you wish. Personally, I like using my page logo or anything related to my website :) As you go, the next step or prompt will go up on your page, so just be sure to complete each step :)

When you get 25 likes you can get a much sweeter looking short URL for your page - once you get 25 likes go to this page and use the drop down menu to select your page and manage your username. This username is permanent so use it wisely, if the name of your business is available then use that ! If it's not, try a nice variation or use dots between words if possible !

You can also set up a tab to display your Etsy listings or favorites, it's an application directly linked to your Etsy account so anyone who clicks your items will be forwarded to your shop :D To add this tab on your Like page, go to this page and click the "Add to my fanpage" button; then just select which page you want to add the app to and once it loaded in your page, click the "My Etsy" tab and enter your username - done ! This can also be used to add the "My Etsy" tab to your profile by selecting the "Add to my profile" tab in the app page.

Now that you're all set you can post your shop updates, new items, contests and pictures to your like page. Isn't it all just magical ? Hope this was useful for you guys ! Now that you can appreciate the hard work that goes into creating these, you can go over to my page and like it :P

Pink shopping issues

Guess who went shopping again ? c: That's right, Mesha did ! It wasn't the same place as yesterday, so I kissed goodbye my urges to get that M.A.C lipstick. One of these days, though D:

I was only looking for a school tote :D Last year we had lockers so I was fine and dandy with having a relatively small tote and sometimes just my purse, but this year we had to say buh-bye to our lockers and I was in need of a much bigger tote. While hoping around, and insisting my tote totally HAD to be pink, my mom declared "You have issues with pink !" in a very exasperated tone. I think she was right, but only a little. I can control my pink loving - I sometimes pick mint, or teal. That's control, right ? In the meantime, I got this totally simple but gorgeous pink Aeropostale tote and a pink simple tee. Who says I've got issues ?

I have two more posts scheduled for today so stay tuned ! I should probably cue them for upcoming days where I don't get nearly enough time to blog but pffft who am I kidding, the word patience isn't in my vocabulary.

Shopping and my cotton ball

Sh-sh-sh-shopping :D ! One of my most favorite things to do ! I've been on a roll lately, and I'm just so very glad of actually being able to shop around like crazy ! On the other hand though, I have to start working back on my Mary Kay business (I've been neglecting it lately) if I want to still be able to buy stuff !

Today I mainly scored super tiny trinkets, such as this lot of 15 pinbacks for $3.80 and a pair of osmtastic shoe laces that totally match my new shoes ! In case you didn't know, the school I attend calls for a uniform everyday, and while I can use either of both our sets (skirt/formal or sports) I always wear my sports one and needed new shoes. I scored a pair of white classic Adidas with pink details and later on found the floral laces that just totally match. Are you loving them as much as I do ?

I also dropped by my local M.A.C stand and got to try their lipsticks for their latest collection "Fabulous Felines" - I tried almost all of them, but I'm totally in love with "Pet me, please" and really need to go back and get it. Just wait and see, I'll sell a couple of Mary Kay lipsticks to buy a M.A.C one. Oh yes.

And as a side note, I'm not sure if I had told you before I let Burrito run around my desk freely while I work here. He's so used to it by now, he often prefers to sleep outside his nest in a very cozy corner on my desk - right between my swap cards (From Moo, yes !) and my phone stand (my current charm was a custom order from Kookiedada !). Doesn't he look as fluffy as a little cotton ball ?

Soap soap soap

Ok now, I know I've said this a million times, but I mean it now ! I've been reading up a lot and thinking about a lot of stuff, and I think I can make this, my blog, finally work out. I've made 1 promise this week and this will be my second - I don't plan to break either of both ! My promise to you is, I'll be a consistent blogger from now on, even if it means I have to steal my brother's phone to mobile post when we're away on the weekend !

On that note, I'll be getting a new phone soon, which will hopefully help me with mobile blogging :) I have a very bad memory, and sometimes I come up with a certain something I want to blog about but tend to forget if I'm not near the computer, say at school or so. Those FML moments when you sit in front of the computer wondering just what you were meaning to do are a constant in my life.

And just as a sweet little extra I want to point you towards a lovely friend of mine who is having an amazing $5 deal - Lauren from SoapSoapSoap is having a - 20 soap samples for only $5 + shipping sale, which is only $1.25 within the US. Double Rainbows, L'OREAL and MOO

I love rainbows ! On our way back home on Sunday, we literally had to park the car and take pics - what's better than a rainbow ? A double rainbow ! Ironically enough as soon as I posted it on Facebook, my friend from Bare Tree Apparel posted a contest about his new Double Rainbow belt ! Haha, I laughed SO hard. Life is cute like that ! :D

This week kicked off greatly for me - school is going smoothly (even if I actually didn't hand in a project) and I'm not sick anymore ! Little coughing, but nothing that won't go away relatively soon. I'm pretty sad over the fact the package from Krys hasn't shown up, I'm starting to worry about it being lost ! :x

What does everyone think about L'OREAL True Match Roller ? I've never been into L'OREAL as it is, but I've been told it's a good quality and the prices are really good. I found out about the True Match Roller (I know, old news !) because of a friend who is currently using it and says it's "okay". I've grown curious and want to try it myself, just because the roll on thinger on itself is quite appealing. I like pretty stuff. Opinions ?

And as a sad highlight, I found out (the painful way - through customer support) that Moo won't take anymore payments from Paypal Mexico, which basically means I have to say goodbye to my beloved Moo minicards :( So sad ! I guess these I ordered for my Mary Kay thingy will be the last batch for me :(

Queretaro Trip

Hi everyone ! Like I mentioned, I'm away in another state atm in a really nice and cozy town. To be honest, I like wandering around for a while, but it gets kinda tiring - specially if you bought a lot of stuff like we did ! So far, and much to our disgrace, it's been raining all day long and it's not suiting my family well since 4 out of us 6 are sick. It gets randomly cold but we're having a nice time, and I'll picture spam you with stuff from day 1, hope you enjoy :)

The town we're in is called Tequisquiapan, down the Mexico-Queretaro highway. It's quite lively around here, even if it's been drizzling all day long and it was super overcast, the plaza was still filled to the brim with people.

There are dozens of nice shops around here, including this nice gallery that was super inviting.

Some hotel shots, this is the pool / garden area. There were people swimming and splashing around even in the rain - we later found out the waters are totally nice and warm so it's not wonder everyone seemed so happy and relaxed in there !

My room wasn't quite in this garden, but I thought the little founntain just in the middle was lovely.

This shot is just of my "travel tote" and phone, but I wanted to show you guys how adorable I thought this little table was ! The chairs were super short and so was the table, but they're super comfortable ! Trust me, I've spent a while here doing my projects while everyone decides where to hang out next :P

This church is in another little town called Bernal, I found the architectural differences quite appealing so I snapped a pic. The church itself was built about 40 years or so ago I heard, but the white arch was built in 2000 and the difference in style is huge.

Toys ! Handmade, ethnic toys are a huge thing here, and I want to take a few home with me. I'll do some more shopping tomorrow !

Heyllo everyone ! Squee, I logged in a couple of days ago to the wonderful news – I reached my 100 followers ! I seriously wasn’t expecting it and it hit me like an amazing train of awesome. Yes, I’m kinda bad with expressing my excitement, lol.

Ah, I’d just really love to thank you all for you support ! Back in The Shopping Kiwi days I was kinda just digging around and nudging everyone to get followers, but it kinda lost the point to me and blogging wasn’t very fun anymore. This is so much different ! I do realize hosting giveaways will always draw followers, sometimes pointlessly, but I’m confident enough to say that I think most of you are following my blog because you’re truly into it and that makes me smile reaaaally wide !

This is really a general huge e-hug to everyone out there who has supported me in a way or another, reading your comments from now and then means the world to me, and all the giveaway lovin’ I got was great. I seriously just can’t express how thankful I am ! I feel pretty bad about the fact that I haven’t been updating this past week, especially since I swear I have a bunch of blogging ideas in my mind ! I caught a terrible cold that has struck me real hard and it’s just making me generally slow, and between school and chores it’s just been impossible to sit down and have a nice me –time. Hell, I’m even doing homework right now because I’m going away for the weekend ! How you liking it, homework on a Friday night ? Pffft.. !

Hello everyone ! Ahh, it's good to be back ! Lets summarize a few topics here !

School is going smoothly and even if the workload is quite heavy I think I can manage to work out a post every two days or so, which is great because I've got many ideas circling my mind already ! I also have a sweet review coming up because I took advantage of a really tiny sale on something I had been wanting for a while !

My friend Krys did me the amazing favor of shopping for me in her recent trip to Japan, so I got a whole set of wonderful goodies coming in the mail for me and I'm hella excited ! I love shopping myself, but having someone else shop for you and see what they come up with is a totally new level of excitement ! On top of this, Krys started a new blog about hauls, tips and coupons for spending less and enjoying wonderful bargains so head over to her lovely new blog !

The Copper Bee Mineral Makeup

Hey everyone :) Monday is the last day to enter my $25 M.A.C gift card giveaway so hurry over there if you haven't entered yet ! This is just a quick post to show you a couple of samples I got from The Copper Bee about a month ago through my friend Danni and I wanted to share with you all.

The Copper Bee is an online shop I had talked about in the past - as you all know already I'm a sucker for eye makeup so my friend Danni sent some samples The Copper Bee had sent for me her way... crazy huh ? I was ecstatic when Danni told me she had received them and couldn't wait ! I must be honest though, I had never sat down and properly tried them up until today ^_^;

I got Black Pearl, Hollyweird, Dirty Rich, Coco and Fake & Bake - Black Pearl is a wonderful liner that can be worn as eyeshadow as well. Coco is the only satin shade I got as the others are super shimmery and look just amazing; Fake & Bake is a nude shade but the shimmers give it that extra kick that will make you love it. I'm honestly going to order it one of these days because it's perfect as a base or simply for a quick on-the-go makeup, like the ones I sport everyday for school :P

I made a really quick video to show you how they look (by quick I mean seriously recording directly to Youtube, no editing or anything !) and I hope you enjoy it - you really have to forgive my ditzy nature as it's basically the first time I'm doing a video of this like and I'm feeling all awkward :P

Heyllo ! Somehow, I saw this coming a mile away - just 4 days into school and the workload is already keeping me away from Twitter ! I haven't had time to sit and blog away but I'm hoping next week will be slightly easier on my schedule - I love me some blogging ! This is just a quick post to tell you about a sweet friend of mine.

I met Oli about a year ago through Swap-Bot, and she was one of the sweetest and most welcoming girl around there ! I've never been a great fan of crocheting honestly, but ever since she got into it and started making amigurumis I just couldn't resist ! Her stuff is completely adorable and I love all the heart she puts into everything she makes - my favorite thing about her crafts ? Her bags of course ! She makes lovely zakka inspired fabric bags and I just want to snuggle them so bad ! Yes, the bags :P

M.A.C Fall Collection Cancelled

School started yesterday ! As a result, I'm not entirely sure of how much it will take me to adjust to my schedules and everything, so I can't assure new posts up until the weekend. This is only while I adjust to my workload and whatnot - I'll be back with a bang as soon as I'm caught up with it ;] Don't forget to enter the giveaway - it ends soon !

I wanted to talk to you guys about an issue that I've been following up for a while and wanted to post only until I knew the conclusion - the M.A.C Rodarte collection. If you're as much of a M.A.C fan as I am, I'm sure you've heard of this as it's been circling the net in a viral way for a couple of weeks now. Makeup Art Cosmetics and fashion designer Rodarte allied to create a collection inspired by the Juarez happenings; hundreds of girls and women have gone missing, been raped and found dead for years, and it's an issue that has yet to be resolved. This Fall collection was inspired on the reality of all those women, which caused major uproar in the beauty blogging and internet community.

The color names for the collection were spawned from the Juarez issue and were deemed offensive by hundreds of beauty bloggers around the world. "Bordertown", "Quinceañera", “Factory” and many others seemed to be just a fresh reminder of the reality of Ciudad Juarez, and nobody was happy with M.A.C profiting off it. Soon after the commotion broke out, they decided to donate part of the proceeds to organizations aiding the women of Juarez directly, but now after a lot of debate, the collection has been officially canceled.

Am I the only one sad to see this go ? Personally, and having been born and raised in Mexico, I didn't find this as mortifying as everyone else did. I did not find appealing the fact that M.A.C was profiting off the Juarez issue, but in all honesty I thought it would be great publicity and would hopefully raise awareness to the horrible things that happen in Juarez. Our government isn't doing anything about this, so I thought "Hey, this might actually help !". The campaign could have been handled more carefully and launched with more sensitivity – maybe then it would have worked out perfectly for everyone; M.A.C’s mistake was throwing it out there without a proper campaign or explanation - they glamourized this terrible issue with no subtlety and it all went downhill.

However it is now though, the Rodarte Fall collection has been cancelled and it's just a matter of time to see what M.A.C will come up with for this fall, and I'm pretty sure they will be a lot more careful and subtle with their inspirations this time around and in the future. This is just more proof of the amazing power the internet has gained, even over major companies. What do you think ?

Breakdown pt. 2

I've been absent, and I'm sorry about it. This past week was crazy, and lots of stuff has happened and I can't wait to tell you about all of it. The giveaway is still going - I'm sorry I've been neglecting it lately, but I want you to know you've still got up until August 21st at midnight to sign up for a chance to win a $25 M.A.C gift card. And now, lets talk about stuff.

I realized I have lots to say but there's nearly not enough space in a single post for it, so I'll break down my last week in a series of posts this week, yes ? Makes sense to me ! First of all, last Tuesday.

Last Tuesday was kinda big for me - why ? I met back with Sandra. Yes, you remember her from this post; back then when she cancelled me, she mentioned she'd be able to hang out again the following week, but it just never happened. My surprise was pretty evident and I'd say expected, when she messaged me again through Facebook on a Saturday or so, asking me to meet at Starbucks again on Tuesday, and I couldn't say no.

I was pretty worked up over the fact she kept pushing my buttons and changed the meeting time - something I found out about by mere coincidence and would have never figured up until it was a little too late. I came about ranting to my ever so faithful Etsy Chat and got a handful of opinions, the "ditch her" being unanimous, and yet, I just couldn't do it. The advice of giving her a "taste of her own medicine" just couldn't happen for me - I miss her.

Yes, this is me breaking down. It's funny how both posts about her have had the same title - because this is how I feel. I miss her, I miss our friendship, I miss how it was back then. I was a total wreck and she was always there for me, and I was as stupid as to throw that out the window and not value our friendship as much as I should have. I merely stood around and watched it drift off, always thinking it wouldn't happen until one day it hit me - she was gone.

Even today, I can honestly and wholeheartedly say she means a lot to me. Her friendship contributed a huge deal of who I am today, and I can say she's one of the reasons I am who I am and I am where I am up to date. It was amazing seeing her that day, and it sucked how we just chatted for what seemed hours like never before - a great chat cost us our friendship. It was great talking and laughing with her almost like in the old times, but always watching my thoughts and making sure I didn't say something wrong. I'm afraid to lose the little connection we have.

She's an incredibly sweet girl and she easily wins over other people. I'm sure she's made great friends through the last couple of years - people who have actually supported her, unlike me - and she's still very attached to them. I don't, won't and can't say I want us to be friends again like back in the day, basing off the fact I feel like she holds resentment towards me; I told her she'd be my friend forever and I mean it. I stand by that promise, but I know I can't just glue us together like it used to be, and I guess it's better off this way.

Summing up, I had a great time with an old friend last week, and I hope it will happen again someday soon. For now, I'll spam your minds again with my current giveaway and hope you forgive this extremely emotional post. I'll be back with something way more positive and ad hoc tomorrow !

Hello everyone ! Ahh Wednesday - this week seems eternal ! Maybe it's because I'm looking forward to school, or maybe it's just the fact I've spent a lot of time alone at home today. Lol. I had a meeting that was cancelled so there we go, stuck here forever and then some. On top of that, I have a road trip tomorrow and will be back up until Saturday night, there goes my sanity !

Like I promised, I want you to meet the newest member of my family - Burrito ! He's a dwarf hamster and basically the fluffiest little thing - he won me over the second I saw him while he munched away with about 30 other hamsters. Lol. He's fairly new to the pack but I think he's adjusted well to my place - he seems to be very happy and wiggly everyday nomming on any snacks I may present to him. He also has a thing for munching on his cage, but I really don't get why.

He has another past time too - bitting. Oh yes, he bites his little life away off anything that might be alien to his cage. I'm having a hard time taming him as half the time he's just busy building his nest and nothing else interests him at all. I have also assumed he's a he because that's as far as I can go on sexing - he won't stay still ! I tried to Fuji him twice and I must say I feel like the dumbest person on Earth for ever trying to take an instant of a furball that refuses to ever sit still. Oddly enough he did me a favor and sat patiently in front of the digital camera so I'm happy, even if he let me waste expensive film. Isn't he extremely fluffy and adorable though ?! Can't hold it against him, really.

My local pet supply stores are boring as can be, so I can't exactly spoil him as much as I'd like to. A couple of years ago I owned a dwarf hamster that was albino as well, Jiro. He was a gift from my friend Yumi and she brought some snacks from one of her US trips - Ratatouille Le Bon Croissants and Yogurt Drops. I remember how much Yumi's critters and my Jiro loved nomming those, so I want to get Burrito some - and yes, I'll be needing your help too ! Sunday Haul

Hello, people ! I'm not gonna lie - I want to go straight back to bed even if it's almost 12pm. It's Sunday ! You know how Sundays go for me, and I'm pretty tired so it doesn't sound like a bad plan to me at all ;D

I went shopping last night ! I was still looking for business casual kinda wear, so it was slightly difficult to find something that fitted my usual wardrobe but still looked all grown up like. Ugh, that's the one thing I can seriously whine about Mary Kay - I don't want to look like all the 40+ ladies I have to work with so I'm stuck looking like a 18 year old secretary. Not like being a secretary is a bad thing, but looking like one while not being one isn't my thing.

So either way, here is what I got. Do you think it would work out for being all businessy and stuff ? Also, I know my pictures aren't exactly amazing - but I'm working on it ! I can't even blame my camera, it's truly just me and my bad perception but I'll fix it, don't worry.

Personally I found everything to be suitable, but still nothing too stiff so I guess I can still spice it up with accessories and how I match it all. Now the hunt for shoes will begin ! I have about 4 pairs I can easily match with all of these, but seriously, who doesn't love shoe shopping ?

Saturday and just a week to go before school starts. I've been busying myself trying to enjoy these last couple of days - some hard earned and well deserved shopping is in order ! I went out with Yumi and the girls yesterday and they talked me into piercing my ears. Yay ? I had honestly been thinking about it for a few months, but I hadn't brought myself to do it. I couldn't get a decent pic, but I can assure you it feels good to have earrings on after 10 years of nothingness - even if it hurts a little.

I was supposed to attend a fancy breakfast today, but I missed it (hah). For the ocassion, I dropped by ZARA and tried to find a blouse that said "I'm mature enough to be here" but also "I'm 18 years old not 40 like you all" and found this - it's supposedly made out of organic cotton and I loved the color, I think it says "I'm mature enough to be here but I'm not 40" or something. I was kinda sad because most of the stuff I had drooled over a month ago was gone, but I'll go clothes hunting this week - I need to find something !

And also - get whose brother sorta kinda rocks ? That's right. My brother, whose house I crash over at all the time, bought me a Savvycents wallet as a gift ! It got here yesterday and I'm completely thrilled - it's quite a big and roomy wallet and I love all the dividers and such - it fits every bill snuggly (we have different sized bills here) and even business cards, which I'm very fond of, by the way. I got it sometime in the morning so when I went out with the girls each and every of my bills was carefully sorted through the wallet and you would not believe how much more easier it was to manage my cash that way !

I have yet to be able to fit in credit cards (I don't have any at the moment actually) but I feel like I don't even need one just yet anymore - this wallet will do the managing work on its own ! Help Wanted

Ladies, I need your help !

During my road trip, I pondered about OPI. They usually retail for $6 or so online, and my hair stylist is selling them for $10. I do understand she has to earn a few bucks off it, but $4 is pretty much excessive in my opinion, and it's not like I'd be "saving" waiting time from ordering online because - she orders online too !

I thought, then, I could just order them online - but I could only think of eBay and they don't sell the exact lot I want so I've come to whine to you all. Would any of you, oh lovely and amazing ladies, be my shopping service ? I've heard most drugstore kinda stores sell OPI nail polishes and I'm pretty sure you'd be able to help - I'd ask my boyfriend, but what do you know, he's postally impaired (from every 3 packages he sends out, 3 return to his doorstep...).

I have4 shades in mind along base and top coats - I've been using Ultra Pro stuff lately and I don't want to talk about it. Maybe I will, but not now. Lol. So yeah, if anyone is interested in doing me a little favor please email me so we can discuss about it ! I can't wait to be back home already, I forgot my camera home and I have something to show you all ._.

Haircute

Hey everyone ! Ahh this week has been a flash ! I found out classes start this 16th so I'm mildly bummed - I love my free time, but I also really want to start school again ! I want to ace my senior year with straight A's even if it kills the little social reputation I had at my current school - lol.

Today was my mom's birthday ! We had fun since pretty early, and my gift to her was a trip to the salon. She refused to get her picture taken - boo ! I also got a haircute and I'm so happy with it ! Yes, I so said haircute. The term was born in Etsy Chat (surprise surprise) and it's been stuck forever. This haircute I really loved since my stylist respects my length and only squeezes out volume - I HATE frizzy huge hair ! It looks awesome in other people, but definitely not on me ! This is a picture of how it looks right now and I'm loving it.

I'll soon make a review on a new serum I ordered as well as some nail polishes. I can't wait to show you the new OPI shade I got - I'm just so happy to have found a lovely stylist to do it all for me ! Haha, she's a good friend of my mother's and we're totally ecstatic when we found out she was opening her very own saloon, just minutes away from our place ! I also found a new building right down her street that basically stole my heart, I hope I can go check out the apts with Yumi soon and show you guys !

I'm going on a road trip tomorrow again to my aunt's place in another state; it's only 2 and a half hours away but it's draining to wake up at 6 to be out the door at 7, ugh ! She's my favorite aunt so I'm honestly fine with that, she's really fun to be around - I mean, come on, we just spent 2 hours snooping around people's houses on Google Maps. She's just great. Hopefully I'll get some good blogging material, I'm hoping to be able to do my first video tutorial soon so stay tuned and have a lovely week - Friday is almost here !

Just one day away from the new blog design, everyone ! Well, one day and a half, but you get me ;D I'm extremely excited about it, the new look is totally my cup of tea ! I'm really hoping you'll love it as much as I do !

Now, let me talk about one of my favorite past times - Etsy Chat. I'm not joking when I say I got to bed at nearly 4am everyday and wake up between 9 and 10am to get online again - curse you, chat ! I've met the most amazing crafters there and we have a blast talking about basically anything you could ever imagine - contrary to popular belief, the Etsy crowd isn't all feminine, for we have a handful of boys prowling around with amazing crafts as well. I promised I'd feature one of my friends after she one a random game we started out of boredom, and this is seriously great with me because she not only won the game, but she also called me Nutella which is pretty epic.

My friend Lauren, owner of a handful of Etsy shops is quite possibly one of the most fun people to chat with in Etsy Chat. Her shops range from supplies, prints, bows, necklaces... my favorite though, is alliteration. This is because, well, my earns aren't pierced. Yes, they're not. So I've found an exceptional love for rings, crazy and funky rings - I've gotten some off Etsy, but I had never found a shop that sold rings and rings only. I must confess I haven't bought anything off her yet, but you know I'm in a no-buy restriction for a while. As soon as it's over I might pay Lauren a visit. *insert devious laugher here*

So I'll show you all of her shops because she has a ton and only one of them is inactive. I gotta

say, I had no clue she was this prolific, but I'm glad to see she's one helluva hyper girl with lots of sweet and fun ideas !

Alliteration~ I think this was her first shop, but I don't know (I'm just guessing through the names) and it's filled up with earrings and necklaces. If I wore earrings, I must confess I'm quite a stud girl but I wouldn't mind a tad to have this pair of pretties. I mean, seriously, marshmallows ? I'm in. They come from Kookiedada's shop as it's a joint work, and everyone knows how teamwork always makes things better ! She also has an adorable rubber duckie necklace I'd love but since my sweetie gave me a gorgeous necklace for my birthday last year, I have only taken it off twice - so no duckie for me !

Alliterations~ This is actually the newest shop on record, and the one filled up with the cuteful

rings. My favorite, of course, had to be the bowl ring. I wish she had a rubber dukie ring, but this bowl with the two eggs and whisker is just beyond me. I'd be afraid to smash it during my everyday hard work (writing emails, blog posts and sipping shakes while watching movies) so I'd probably just display it. Yes, I do that a lot.

And Alliteration~ This is the bow shop, and boo it's on vacation.

Also Alliteration~ Wire work is featured here - mostly telephone wire. Yes, I know Gaga is in your head now. In this shop Lauren sells wire creations, stuff like bouquets and headbands - now, when I was 10 I was SUCH a headband girl you wouldn't believe it, but now I like buns or messy ponytails so I doubt I'd use one, heh.

A Cute Alliteration~ I got a kick out of the name of this one, it's so adorable ! This shop is for supplies, from charms to vintage beads and rick racks. Even if the stock isn't huge there, I pretty much love the colorful vintage beads and if I didn't already have one too many I'd definitely think of ordering them.

An Alliteration~ This is the photography print shop I mentioned and I love it ! My favorite print out of them all is definitely the sliced strawberries one, it looks like something I'd put in my kitchen. Yay for strawberries ! She has three sizes of prints available which is pretty ace because I know sometimes sellers stick only to a certain size and that's no fun.

Rant Upcoming; It's official

I'm sorry this will be a text-only post, but I have a lot to say today; I've added a linebreak in case you just want to skip it, all those words look boring :P Also - the new layout is coming in just 2 days. Who's excited ? :D I'd like to point out this Rant Upcoming post isn't a negative one as the others, just a lot of babbling :'D

It's official - I'm a Mary Kay independent beauty consultant. I'm not sure if I should cry or laugh, honestly. Reality hit me when I opened the door to the well known DHL guy; I'm used to having him knock our door 3-5 times a week because of my mom and sister in law, but when he gave me the receipt form to sign and I saw my name, I had to pause for a second. This time he was there, for me. My very own Mary Kay products.

I've been reading several online testimonies, but none will ever be as good as the one I've been living for the last 10 or so years - living with two Senior Sales Directors has been quite possibly the best and yet most frustrating thing to ever happen to me, Mary Kay-wise.

At first, when I started prettying up and using makeup, everyone got a kick off the fact I'd pick even Avon over Mary Kay (no offence to all the Avon representatives out there). And it wasn't because I don't like Mary Kay - I just felt like I was being jerked around. I gawked and drooled over M.A.C's palettes, or Sephora's liners, but I wasn't able to get them because they were "competence" ? My mom never limited me, I just felt that invisible line was there for no real reason. Everyone got used to it after a while and my mom paid no mind to it honestly, since I think she got the hint, I wasn't dissing her products (because I honestly like them) but I was more like trying to reveal against her brand and wanted to try all the other pretties. I'm just that conceited.

Deep down, I've always known I'm meant to follow my mom's path; and it's not because she's making me or anything, but it's expected of me as her daughter and honestly - it's some pretty cash. Mary Kay gives you money for breathing, and I like breathing. The products basically sell themselves because the quality is pretty nice and they're affordable - you could get almost 3 Mary Kay eyeshadows for the price of a M.A.C one and the pigmentation is almost as good (sorry M.A.C, you know it's true). If you go out there and hand a couple of catalogs, 3 out of the 10 you hand out will call you back, and I like the odds of 3 to 10, if you ask me. It's just...

I'm not excited. Maybe it's how Greg says, and Mary Kay is already such a big part of my life that it's nothing special to me anymore, but I truly can't be as hyped as some of my mom's consultants who jump around when they get a sale or something. It's just not my thing. I need to work a lot on this, because the fact that my people skills are nonexistent is directly linked to my self esteem, and that one is pretty much gone as well. How I see it, the beginning of the rest of my life has started with this, and I'll lead you along the way telling you how much this business grows on me, because I'm hoping it will - I like money too much to say no to it, and selling my soul to a cosmetics company doesn't sound half bad. I like how all the hate sites make it seem like Mary Kay will suck up your soul and money, but in my personal experience and all the women I've seen in my mom's and SIL's unit (over 250 altogether I think) I'd say it's the total opposite - I'll never get over the fact I made $100 in less than 10 days and have sold little over $200 during my small journey. It should be fun.

Homemade marshmallows

8 days to go ! My god guys, aren't you excited ?! :P The layout is looking great, I just can't wait to show you ! I've been kinda busy lately and have been hanging out with two of my friends - I want to talk to you about them and our adventure today.

Yumi is a crazy girl who loves squealing and doing all sorts of nonsense as much as I do; she's the one moving out with me and we're pretty much a match made in heaven, although we don't exactly hold the title of "best friends" because it just doesn't click for us. It's hard to explain, but I honestly just love the girl to bits and pieces. Up next is Bep, a quiet and super sweet girl who happens to be crazy as a goat once you get to know her better - she lives just across the street from me which is hella funny because we had never seen each other before attending the same Jr. high 4 or so years ago. The three of us hang out in random sprees, when our schedules give us enough free time to run out and about the city - today ? Today we made marshmallows !

They're fairly easy to make, although the waiting time for them to set was killer. When I read the recipe off Smitten Kitchen I was thoroughly warned of how much of a mess the batter would create, so I basically dismissed the warning. All hell broke lose. It was the stickiest mess on Earth and I felt like I'd end up tangled in a knitted cocoon of marshmallow strings. I think Deb's warnings were pretty blatant and upfront, but they weren't enough for me and I wish I would have listened - before I knew it, my hair was covered in marshmallow ! As well as my nose, forehead and arms. I had marshmallow batter in places where marshmallows should never be ! It was just crazy. Much for my amusement, the girls were playing with the batter as I tried to desperately clean my mom's kitchen. It was just everywhere !

During the waiting time we did what we know how to do best - dance to old songs and bake cupcakes. Baking cupcakes for us is just like deciding to flip a channel, we do it almost every time we hang out. While Yumi and I shopped for ingredients for the marshmallows earlier, we found a new condo being built just around the whereabouts where we'd like to set in, so during the cupcake fiesta the conversation turned into money-making and we soon decided we'll try our hand at selling cupcakes. It wouldn't harm, would it ? Just three girls innocently selling cupcakes for a little spare cash. We'll give it a try next week, it should be fun !

After about 4 hours of waiting, we cut up the marshmallows and had a bite - I can't really say they were excellent because I think we overcooked the caramel (we couldn't find a candy thermometer) so they had a somehow funky taste, but they weren't half bad either ! With just a little bit more of practice, and a candy thermometer, we should be able to get wonderfully sweet and tasty marshmallows - we've got the springy marshmallowy goodness going on already, we just need to work on the flavor and coloring, because that faint purple isn't cutting it for us. Saving and spending

Omg guys. The new layout is almost ready and I'm so excited for you to see it ! I love love love it and hopefully so will you ! I'm slightly tight on money at the moment and perhaps won't be able to get right on with the little surprise I had prepared for you guys, and that's the topic I want to talk about today.

Ever since my early teens, I was eager to become independent - I know, dream big ! I was barely 13 and dreamed of having my own apartment and living with my cat. I've never hoped for a big house or anything, perhaps because I'm a very urban girl, but my dream has always been a small, cozy flat for myself. The opportunity has sort of presented, so now it's all a matter of saving up and either convincing my parents I need to get up and start living my own life, or just leave. One of my friends from a while back is completely up for the challenge and so we'll do it together in about a year span - it's both hella exciting, and scary. [Picture credit; Google]

Growing up is the scariest thing I've had to face up to date - the thought of starting college, getting a job and just pouncing at life is both enticing and horrific. I've always been such a momma's girl this will be a big jump, and I'm hoping to have my parents' support as well as my boyfriend's and friends'. A lot of time will be invested in finding a nice affordable apartment close to both our colleges and lots of money will be spent in rent, food and appliances. Does this mean I have to say goodbye to my hauls ?

I'm a ruthless shopaholic and can never pass up a sale or wonderful deal - neither can I stop myself from buying useless stuff only because it's terribly cute. I have issues with cute stuff, and I also have problems when I decide I need a wonderful, yet inconvenient, gadget. The fancy for a Kindle 2 has struck me and I want it so bad it's not even funny, yet I'm pretty sure I can't allow myself to just spend money like that if I have bigger stuff to save up. Stuff I really need.

Do you have issues organizing your money ? I do, and prioritizing my needs. This past 4 days my parents were out of town and I was given money to buy groceries and all else, since I was stuck with my younger brother. I also had to manage my mom's clients so I had to keep her money as well as my own clients' money. On top of it, I owe my dad a couple of bucks so I had to manage that too, and the money I owe my mom... It was such a hassle I ended up spending 20 minutes figuring out how much I could take with me when I went out with my girls. Crazy ! I need a Savvycents wallet - that would be convenient ! I felt ridiculous carrying around 6 paper envelopes with me.

I have a million projects ahead of me and most of them need money, sadly. I want to be able to save up at least $50 a month for the rent of our future apartment (we plan to move out sometime during winter 2011) and have enough money to both invest on Mary Kay (because well, you need to) and to spend on the wonderful banalities of life. Someone tell me it is remotely possible.

A long weekend

This has been a very a slow and long weekend ! I caught a dumb summer cold and my parents are out of town up until Tuesday so I'm stuck being the responsible daughter taking care of my 15 year old brother. I wouldn't wish this evil on anybody - he's not exactly respectful or coherent at all, which only makes my duty worst.

Yesterday I went over to a friend's and we spent the whole day together; we went to buy some jewelry for her brand new navel ring and being in a body shop I couldn't help but feel the urge to get my tongue pierced again. I miss it, honestly. I'll have to think about it or actually wait, since my school doesn't allow body modifications in any way. I'm serious, not even hair dye; it's ridiculous.

The Mary Kay business thing has kicked off quite favorably, even if I had no clue it would. I've sold about $100 in a 10 day or so span, which is pretty amazing considering I'm not exactly going out to get sales - they've just happened and I'm happy. I'll need a lot of money soon... I have something to ask you everyone !

At what age did you move out ? I've always wanted to live off on my own for at least a couple of years and the perfect opportunity will be here once I graduate, but my parents are on denial. Apparently, I'm too young to be independent. A friend and I have always thought it would be deadly awesome if we lived together, and we might be able to work it out by winter 2012. For now, I'll ask you - any advice on making my parents change their mind ? How did you drop the bomb when you moved out ?

Eyelash curling perm - say what ?!

Before I knew it, I have a lot of stuff to blog about and I've fallen behind. Sorry everyone ! right now, lets start with the latest - eyelash perming.

My SIL's sister is a cosmetologist and one thing always leads to another with her. This morning, I was randomly set up and prepared for an eyelash perming. Yes ladies, you can perm your lashes. I wasn't scared or worried, just... well, I know her, she's very careful and professional, even though she's a little ditzy. I had heard the concept a couple of times before, but I had never thought I'd get one myself.

The process is fairly simple, she used a kit that came with 4 steps I couldn't exactly care about (haha) but basically, there are tubes that look like lash curler refills and they glue them to your eyelids, much like falsies. Then, they use a special glue to keep your lashes in place with the tube, curling them before applying a curling gel. Time went on as I did whatever else with my SIL and her sister, surfed the web, IM'd Greg - you know. They finally removed it after approximately 20 minutes (my lashes are VERY hard to curl) and the result was more or less satisfactory.

Before and after (excuse the crazy brows and crappy pics !) I'm not sure if it's really visible, but this so called perm gave my lashes a flirty and natural look and we'll see how long it lasts. They're supposed to last up to 3 months if done properly and all you need is to apply your mascara and you're ready to go - no more pinching your lids with a curler or anything. I'm slightly skeptical as if they'll endure a shower or even make up remover, but we'll see ! For now, I'm content with how they look and will keep you posted if they just decide to fall back to their stick-straight nature.

I'm back, with internet ;D My dad fixed the router so I've been able to spaz around the web as usual. I already took advantage of that quality time and decided to work on some sweet reviews for the blog, although I'm pretty slow I'm sure you'll like them. For now, lets talk nails.

Being the sweetie he is, Greg got me a set of Eyeko nail polishes a month ago or so. While I have already tried them all, I feel inclined to make a review in two of the set's tones as I know there's a lot of skepticism around them. Vampira polish and Posh polish from the "Must haves" collection.
I like sporting fake nails such as acrylics or gels, but lately doing them myself has tickled my fancy and I started collecting a few polishes here and there - I have gotten used to pinks and reds, and the occasional yellow or baby blue, but I had never tried a brown polish. Brown polish ! I didn't even know such a thing existed really, it's not a very flattering color for nails so I never thought someone would come up with it. Eyeko did.

Posh Polish, "for ladylike nails" is a smooth brown-gray color. Some pointed out it looked like a blended pink with taupe or so. The color itself is hard to explain, it's a rich milky chocolate I wasn't really sure about in the bottle, but after 2 coats I honestly loved it in my hands. My dad wishes I were pretty in pink all the time so he kept poking at me to change it, but I really did like it a lot.

Up next is the Vampira polish, "for gothic nails". Black polish with red glitter - the kind that only shimmers but doesn't flake or make it uneven. I honestly loved this one, even if I'm not used to black polish anymore. The first coat was very flimsy and looked terrible, but upon applying a second coat it changes completely and looks fantastic - I put on a third one just to be sure, but it really isn't necessary. I'm sorry about the untidy look on my nails but I snapped the pics right after I was done and hadn't cleaned the edges :P I think I have a somewhat steady hand though, it could be much worse !

With this I must say my opinion about Eyeko nail polishes has changed completely. Back in the day when they still had the cutesy pot presentation I bought 2 and was completely disappointed - the colors needed at least 4 coats to look fine and the bottles dried off in less than a month, not to mention the polish chipped off after 2 days ! I wasn't so sure when I got their Nude polish and later on the Must Haves collection as a gift from Greg, but I'm really happy with them now ! No chipping at all, the colors are vibrant and don't need more than 2 coats. Eyeko, you make me happy.

Free WiFi

So the router thing is still on hiatus. My dad said he'd fix it tonight so I've been stealing wifi from anywhere and everywhere I can. Right now, I'm at Starbucks. She didn't come.

Conveniently, she cancelled me through Facebook - However, she did it 8 minutes after the agreed meeting time. I'm not sure if I should be sad or disappointed, but having free wifi for about an hour or as long as my battery lasts is keeping me from it.

I keep wondering about M.A.C's Haute & Naughty mascara - when will it come ?! D: I'm being tempted to order it and send it to Greg so he can forward it to me. I refuse to wait up until September. I also found a really "convenient" wallet, but they don't ship to mexico so I have to figure a way to forward it here. My friend Dani from Artexana & Kewpidee Artistry offered to be the host, but I don't want to burden her unless it's really necessary.

Also, I'll finally go on a well deserved and much needed shopping spree and will show you my haul. I'm sooo dropping by ZARA. Just wait and see baby - I won't deny it, I LOVE SALES ! Everyone is having sales right now, I'm so happy :'D

World Cup and literally wire-less

The Worldcup is over ! Well, almost.

I'm not a huge soccer fan and I'll honestly say I was dreading every game. The city came to a full halt and many shops closed when Mexico played - I must admit I almost laughed when they lost against Argentina. Okay, I did laugh. I was all the way with South Korea, and was fired up when Argentina kicked their butt too. Today ? Today I'm just with the winning team. Go team ! The most appealing thing of this transmission is the fact the worldcup trophy was being carried around in a Louis Vuitton box. I wish someone had a picture of that.

So I have a very good explanation as to why I haven't been online. My router broke. I don't have internet at my place and it almost feels as if someone cut off a limb from me - yes, I'm addicted to the web and I'm not ashamed of admitting it. I ended up stealing wifi from a coffee shop and staying over at my brother's again in order to get online. I don't care about the lack of food in this house if they have wifi. Shame on me.

Someone linked me to a very interesting project I want to talk to you about, but it needs a whole post so I'll do that some other day :P Right now I'm focused in trying to find good topics for the blog - I suddenly turned it into a personal diary and that's not what I aimed it to be - I wanted it to be about fashion and makeup, the stuff I'm passionate about and spice it up a tad with some personal happenings, but it's the other way around. So far I feel a nail polish review coming because I have a lot to say about Eyeko's polishes. Really. Soon after, maybe, Coastal Scents ;D

Breakdown

A couple of days ago I had some sort of breakdown and contacted an old friend to go out with her, Sandra. She used to be my best friend through junior high and I loved her to bits; I guess stuff happened and we grew apart. I’m a firm believer that people don’t change; they just show their true selves. It hurt a lot when she said she was through with me, she didn’t need me anymore and she hated how I had changed and turned into someone else. I guess she just didn’t know me enough.

I had a very chaotic mind back in the day and she was with me through thick and thin in some of the worst moments in my life, yet as time went by we couldn’t find enough time to nourish our friendship, since we attended different schools and our circles of friends were different. I felt we had a strong connection, but I failed to realize it would die out with time if I didn’t get around to being a good friend.

I’ve never been good with friends, and I can honestly say I don’t have very many friends. I’m good with new friendships, but I lack of that “friendly” factor – I don’t call or text randomly, I don’t crash or ask you out if I’m bored and so on. You know, all of those tiny gestures you’re supposed to have with friends, I can’t do. I’m a very supportive person, but it bugs me how some people are there just for the view and if you ever need help, they’ll be just busy. I don’t like one-sided friendships, and it seems that I’m only lucky with those. She wasn’t like that though. She was a very supportive and sweet girl, and even if she’d get in trouble, she’d try to be there for you – and I failed miserably to realize how valuable her friendship was.
However it was back then though, she was the one to cut us loose and tell me to take a step back, so why did I go and contact her again ? Beats me… We’ll go out this Monday, just grab a coffee and chat, or try to. I’m very nervous and I don’t know what I’ll say or anything. I’m afraid of her rejection, but yet I just can’t help but feel like I need to know what happened with her after we split our ways. I can't help but think, maybe I was weighting her down.

Bruised lace

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say lace is totally lush. Lace and frills, yes ! There's this ZARA shop around here (I'm sure it's in many other places around the globe too) that used to sell kinda "meh" stuff, but their latest collections have been all about lace and frills, and I'm so very thankful.

Tell you the truth, I'm so not a skirt girl ! And it's not because I don't like them, because believe me I'd kill for a cute lacey skirt, and something puffy and tutu-like. I love skirts and dresses so much ! My issue is - dun dun dun, i hate my legs. I'm just not comfortable with baring my legs, which is kindof a pain because of my school uniform (yes, I'm one of those school girls :P). I've tried wearing skirts randomly, but I can't manage to do it without thighs. I just can't do it !

I'd love to get my hands on something frilly and cute ! This shop I mentioned had the cutest skirt on earth, an orange-y pale pink with lacey frills and some sort of velveteen / velour fabric that was just the most heavenly thing to the touch I almost died. At the time, I was shopping with my mom and I think I almost begged on my knees for it - she utterly refused, and yes, her argument was "You never wear skirts". Touché.

I've been gathering my will and money to go back and get it myself, but I don't think it's still there after so long. It's such a pity ! I think it's one of those things I'll regret forever and blame my self esteem for - that skirt was glorious ! Grr. Their newest stuff is leaning onto the floral side, if I remember correctly from my last rush to the mall (I can't cope without my Body Shop lip balm). That's really nice, since I'm favoring floral prints lately. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get a floral skirt !

That weekend trip was surely a challenge ! I don't exactly own any bathing suits because of my fear of water, so someone lent me a bikini and oh gee - I felt SO exposed ! It was probably the first time I ever wore a bikini and I felt as if I were running around in my underwear. Fun times. However, there is something I need to stress; I felt sexy. I'm blushing as I type this, but I think wearing it gave me that slight confidence boost that made me think for a second "Hey, I'm a cute girl and I can make this work !" It's a really funky concept, because I was raised to not have that mentality until I hit my twenty somethings. I guess it takes some getting used to, and I do plan to kick around my fear of deep waters - the scavenger hunt for a cute bikini has started, and this cute Korean model has beaten my self esteem already and showed me I'll need a lot to look as good as she does in that 'kini. Stunner !

I guess I'll just go on with the bikini / skirt gimmick, however I need to stop being such a clutz if I want to wear something of the sort - bruises are so not chic ! (Yes, I trip that often).

Forever and then some

Hello everyone ! I'm sorry about yesterday's rant and the fact that I didn't make up for it later on haha, I do have something today though !

I have news ! The blog makeover is taking shape ! My designer Rocio, from Little Magenta Design, and I have brain stormed a little and she has come up with a really awesome draft ! We're still putting together ideas so you'll have to wait - not more than myself though haha, the concept will be new to you as much as to me ! I'm very excited though, she's extremely talented and I'm glad I found her !

In other news, I decided to add a little something to my surroundings since lately I've been feeling a little blue. This is right above my bed and up front when you walk into my room, so it makes me smile every time I look at it :D I do think I might change the wording a tad - after I finished I noticed "the" would look better than "a", but it's velvet paper and each letter was a pain to cut so I'm giving a lot of thought to that :P The silver and glittery stars turned out really nice and chubby so I might add some more of those :)
I have a question for you all. Since the mineral makeup boom started it’s been all over nonstop and even high end brands have been launching mineral versions of their previous products. I’d lie if I said I know when it started, but it got pretty heavy around the spring of 2009. My question is, do you prefer mineral makeup over normal process cosmetics ? What are your favorite brands ? I ask this because I’ve lately been all over Coastal Scents, however I’ve also been pointed towards a couple of Etsy sellers such as The Copper Bee and Patina Mineral who seem to have great items, or my all time favorite Orglamix. I’m just curious about trying new brands of mineral stuff and would like to hear your thoughts and experiences.

On another note, my friend Michelle from Spontaneous Dots is hosting a giveaway in her blog for a free pendant from her shop – totally custom ! Rant Upcoming; Sundays

The title might become something common, I'm sorry in advance everyone. Everytime I make one of these posts I'll try to make up with something less whiny at the end of the day :)

Sundays in my household are... stressing. Every other day of the week you can find me doing very well, but Sundays are the exception. I've been trying to master my jedi powers over mind control, but it's not quite effective yet, I need to work on those.

Why are they stressing, you ask ? I'm the only girl in a family with 3 children. I have a 27 year old brother along a 15 year old who can either be the coolest or make me want to fork their eyes out. Yes, even I have limits and they know how to push my buttons. I can easily and wholeheartedly tell you I'm the luckiest girl alive because I have the best family on earth, but Sundays... my, my.

You know that feeling, the Sunday feeling ? Waking up to the realization of it being Sunday - tedious, boring and long day. I just know it will suck from the very beginning so I try to just shrug it off, but they make it impossible. My family has a thing for being extremely critical and love picking on people, funny enough I'm their favorite person to pick on; you may think I'm playing the victim here, but you're so wrong ! I don't understand it myself, but they love nagging at me. My clothes, my makeup, my boyfriend, school, my room, my very way to breathe. They always have something to say, always ! I've tried concealing myself to the fact it's just momentary, they'll soon target a better person to nag... but that's just wrong. They've been doing this for years and don't seem to want to stop.

Maybe it's because I'm the only girl ? I've also always been very different from them, and I don't think they like that either. You know how the MK business thing goes on, and they've always been outraged at my lack of eagerness to be a part of it. I'm a sucker for makeup and have always been - much to my family's dismay, I use M.A.C, Too Faced, Smashbox and Coastal Scents, which is almost as if I were giving them the finger every time they see me doing my makeup. I just don't get it, it's okay to dedicate your life to your own business, but if you're a cashier at Domino's, it doesn't mean you won't eat at Pizza Hut right ?

We frequent a chain of cafes that are very popular around our area - been going to the same one for the last 7 years, and that's boring. My family loves to go there once or twice a day and just sit there doing nothing but criticizing people, be it family or friends, or even the lady sitting across from them. I hate that with a passion, it's sickening how they can't keep their opinions to themselves, because beyond being a simple comment, it's usually very rude and offensive and I really hope they never get to someone else's ears. Sundays are the only day of the week in which my whole family goes to the cafe and sits there for easily 3 hours trash talking about someone else and why yes, me. What's worse is that sometimes they can seriously bring me to tears. Perhaps I'm too frail or just straight out a wuss, but instead of feeling bad they laugh it off. I've wondered more than once if they feel at least a tad guilty.

I don't want you to take me wrong, they're all amazing and I love my family to death and back, but that side of them is much too bad for me and I wish Sundays didn't exist. I know it's just a part of life, getting used to this kind of stuff - it's just hard.

Shimmy shimmy

Lately I've been shimmying about mascara. You know how important it is to choose the right one for your lashes and all, right ? Choose one that will suit and enhance your eyes, give you those gorgeous flirty lashes that look just too dreamy and perfect to be true. See, I'm all up for eye makeup, what you can do with a pair of eye shadows makes me melt and feel giddy. I've always thought the most interesting feature about a person is their eyes, since a look can give you up more than any word ever could. Eye makeup just makes them all the more appealing.

I've been fuzzing about a mascara that was gifted to me by Greg about a month or so ago. Eyeko's Big Eyes Mascara; the opening of the tube isn't very wide, but the formula is really creamy - I've read countless reviews on it saying how wonderful it is, and I won't lie and say it's not because I like the effect it gave my lashes, but there's a deal breaker - it's impossible to take off. I tried three different makeup removers, the one that worked the best was oddly Mary Kay's oil free remover, but much to my surprise, using water would have been better and less painful. All the rubbing and even pinching it off my lashes one by one... I thought it deserved a second chance, maybe it had been a bad experience for being the first, after all I liked how it looked, right ? Wrong, again. It's now stored in one of my drawers and I don't think it's ever coming out. Like, ever. I don't want to risk my eye lashes going brittle and have already expressed my apologies to my boy for not using his gift. He did get me something else, which is their 3-in-1 Magic Mascara, and now that one is nice. The wand is long and easy to use, and the formula isn't too liquid nor too creamy, just flick it from the bottom to the end and it gives you great fluttery lashes, must have for the next 2 months or so.

I'm really excited about M.A.C's new Haute & Naughty mascara, it looks so luscious ! I do realize the wide opening would create massive chaos for me, as I honestly don't like having dramatically full lashes - I like long and fluttery, not thick and voluptuous; either way, I just feel like it's one of those items that will turn into many women's HG and quite possibly mine. So much potential in a single tube ! Here's the video by the wonderful artist Gordon Espinet on how you can create two different looks, both equally lush with a single mascara.

Haute & Naughty is already available in their website for $18usd and it will be available in US stores this September. Sadly, us international ladies will have to wait up until October. Boo hoo.

My right to twinkle

Do you have any idea of how frustrating is to have an idea for a blog post and forget - just like that ? What's worse is that it had been circling my mind the whole afternoon haha. Took me a while to remember, I sat here for around 20 minutes before getting a grip.

I really don't know how I digressed to this, probably because of all the "old" songs in my iPod. You know, oldies like Where is the love by the Black Eyed Peas or Lucky by Britney Spears, haha. I was thinking of how much this world has changed, and it happened during my generation.

Marilyn Monroe was probably one of the most successful and conscious women that's ever been under a spotlight. Most of her words were inspiring and I'll never get over how fascinating that is. One of my favorite quotes from her is this one~

"Unfortunately, I am involved in a freedom ride protesting the loss of the minority rights belonging to the few remaining earthbound stars. All we demanded was our right to twinkle."

Somehow the meaning of that quote for me goes a little beyond what it was intended for and phases to the right we all have to overcome ourselves. I've always tried to have a positive outlook on life, and while it hasn't been possible at times, I still try to be positive and look at the bright side of things - or at least, the least darker.

I retook the habit of late night chatting at Etsy and have had as much fun as usual, but while the topic shifted to careers and jobs everyone mentioned how much of a hassle it is to start at the bottom. I find that very curious, as I've always lived in a dreamland where starting from the very bottom would be amazing - prove to myself and the rest of the world how strong I can be and how nobody can stop me. Yes, I'm quite dreamy. The idea quickly sank in though, with everyone saying how boring and hard it is, etc. Seller sseloke said to me "Baby, you're already on the top - you just don't know it yet !" And I swear, that made my day.

This chat took place on Friday night, and I had to meet my "first" Mary Kay "customer" today at noon - I was very nervous and almost dreading it. That little phrase helped me a great deal and boosted my confidence. I can't say the meeting was a success as it was fairly quick, but I must admit it went over better than I thought it would. Soon after, as I was on the road I kept wondering about all these amazing and inspiring phrases that come from strong women who decided to not settle down and go above and beyond. It just made me smile to myself and think - I've always wanted to be one of those girls.

Ahhhh away for the weekend.

It's not that bad if you see it from my perspective - more time to think about new posts and stuff, you know ? Still, a 3 hour road trip... it irks me. I'm a very impatient girl if I must be honest, and I get antsy so quickly... Speaking of which ! (it has nothing to do with it, but I'm not good with transitions) my designer and I are working on the new look for the blog ! It shouldn't take too long, and I'm as excited as you ! *high fives air*

Rant Upcoming; So cliché

Do you remember those old school families in which the sons had to the same thing their father did for a living, whom in turn was doing what the grandfather did ? I feel like I'm stuck in that time.

My mother and sister in law are very successful in their business. They've been doing it for 10 and 9 years respectively and they've achieved a lot - they both sell Mary Kay cosmetics. I admit it's a great profitable business, if you're into selling you should definitely try it out and you won't be disappointed. My mother was tied to her bed for 1 month because of surgery, and despite not leaving the house at any times, she still received a great paycheck (around $1500). The car we own, was given to her by the company and she only has to pay for gas, how amazing is that ? Well, clearly not as amazing as to make me want to become a part of it.

Since my summer vacation started I haven't been up to a lot, mainly sitting about doing a whole bunch of nothing. I'm so lazy... I decided I needed a summer job, but since I of course still live with my parents I needed to get their permission. Any sane parent would have encouraged their daughter to get a job - my parents ? "Are you out of your mind ? No, no and no."

Gee, thanks.

My father offered me something I would have refused if I didn't need the money. I'll start selling Mary Kary cosmetics, just like mommy does. I'm close to gagging. Seriously, it isn't that bad - I'd be earning some really nice cash but the idea of being almost forced to it... I really feel like that guy who had to go to law school because his dad and grandfather did. Couldn't get anymore cliché. Anyone ever been in a situation like this ?

I've been doing a lot of stuff these past couple of days. Not physically though, but I must recognize I should be more active. I've been prancing here and there around the web, trying to push forward this lovely blog of mine. I had forgotten of all that has to be done.

Back in the day when I started The Shopping Kiwi, I had a handful of ideas related to my Etsy addiction - every step was given recklessly and I must admit it worked, as half-assed as it was. I consider it one of my personal successful projects, but I do wish I had planned more for it. By the time I ran out of ideas, so did my passion and liking for it, and it was all very soon. I really do wish I had planned it all better... I now have a million plans for this blog and I don't plan to back down - oh no, never :P This will be my cozy e-home now :D
I've been working on my traffic and hopefully we'll start seeing new results soon - new faces ? new commenter ? new followers ?! :D I hope I can make it as greatly as I did back in the day. Want to know a secret ? A make over is already on the works - I hope you like it !

YES ! I'm home. And I'm oh so happy :'D

The last couple of days were pretty busy, but also quite relaxing in an odd way and extremely good for some much needed reflection. I came up with a bunch of silly and fun projects I want to take up as soon as I can ! I'll tell you about those later on though :P

My weekends was pretty ace - My brother rented some summer house thing an hour or so away from the city and it was epic. For this or that reason I'm deadly afraid of deep waters and haven't swum in literally years. I put on my big girl panties and decided I had to dive into that welcoming pool and have fun with everyone, so I did ! It was amazing, I wish I had taken more pictures of the resort thing we were in, but we just never stopped wiggling about so I didn't have time to sit and take pictures - I do have this one though. View from some famous tower (which name is just unknown to me, lulz) of half of the resort.
We rode the aerial tramway thing you can see in the picture, they call it a funicular but I think those are supposed to be like, you know, on the ground. Lol. I'd post a picture of my huge tough-looking 27 year old brother sitting on the floor of the cabin being scared to his very bones, but I'll save him from that. The huge white thing that easily resembles the Epcot Theme Park is some sort of greenhouse with a water spring and amazing green scenery, ducks and geese included. According to the informational plaques and such, that spring provides the whole vacation center and the water park next to it with water. That’s a lot of water right there, homey. Our rental house thingy is in the row of red roof houses on the right; it had a tiny pool upfront if you were too lazy to visit the 4 artificial pools or the other 2 natural ones.

Ok I couldn’t hold back. Sorry Oso. Anyway :’D The weekend was pretty damn fun, and to top it off I got my lover boy back ! Who, you ask ? No other but my gorgeous puppy ! His whole story and how it came to be needs another full post, but for now I’ll tell you someone asked us to ‘borrow’ him to try and create more cute Chihuahuas. I was against it because he’s just a baby but blah. He was off for 2 or so weeks and I missed him terribly D: He’s back and being the cutest rascal on earth and beyond again, always munching on everything he can and making sure to drool on me more than enough. Cutesy.

He wiggled around the house for a while and to his heart’s contempt until he was completely hammered – I got my quiet time to get started on my newest project ! Have you ever heard of paper cranes ? My, of course you have, silly. I decided I’ll make one thousand paper cranes ! It shouldn’t take more than a month, and I plan to make at least 200 a week – more if possible ! They’re so nice and colorful I hope I can finish them soon – they’ll look so perfect in my room ! It needs a splash of color too, so they will suit greatly !

Browsing the web I came upon Katie Sokoler’s work and I must say she’s one of the most amazing human beings on this earth. Her work is full to the very brim with color and happiness and I was beyond dazzled ! I must admit though, I’m thoroughly jealous of her. It made me slightly sad to jump out of my little bubble for a second to realize the kind of person I’ve become. Sure, years have roughed me up a little bit, but I still love everything nice, colorful and fun and I cherish happiness. I was telling Greg how disappointed I am of myself – I love my life even if it’s pretty crumbly at times and I wish I could see everything as amazing as Katie does; her work makes me really happy, and I wish I could be that happy on a daily basis. I’ve set my mind to try my best to follow the path I want – colorful, happy and full of love. Only time will tell.

I so refuse to blog until I get my camera, guys D: This past weekend was crazy and I totally forgot my digital cam at home ! Yes, I'm still at my brother's and it's getting hectic. I have a lot of stuff to say but no way to show you with proper pictures because I forgot my camera. Gwah.

I'll post as soon as I get it and can show you with pics, I promise ! Not like anyone's really into this blog just yet, but one of these days :P I'll post about my lovely weekend, my reunion with one of the loves of my life and my latest project. Just wait on me !

Parenting is so hard !

Thank god I'm not a parent. And I mean it with utmost respect to all parents out there - you guys are so amazing.

Today's rant picks up from the fact that I was awoken at 7am (during my vacation, outrage !) to babysit. Hell to the yeah, babysit. My sister in law's sister's kid, and that's as clear as water to me. Her name is Allison Michelle (hint hint, we share one of our names) and she's quite adorbz. Maybe the drool and dirty diapers are not that great, but she sure is a charmer.

I must admit she's a rather tranquil baby, didn't cry much and pooped her diaper just once - and I wasn't the one to fix that, luckily. I have such a bad gag reflex it would have been even worse... Anyway, Allison was completely entertained playing with the hem of my hoodie or staring at my phone charms - I was happily thinking how babies are so easily amused and don't cause trouble at all when a random toy fell off the bed and made little noise. I guess it was just little noise to me, but she started screaming her head off and all hell broke lose.

It made me slightly happy to find myself trying to comfort her instead of running around searching for aid. If I'm very honest, I didn't use to be a fan of babies and would dread having to take care of one - they just seem so frail I'd be afraid to break one, and there's no real way to pay for a broken baby, is there ? I'm joking though, everyone knows all babies come with a warranty, duh.

Seriously though, babies are something so precious words can't even describe. Every time I hear of someone being pregnant it makes me really happy, even if we may not know each other or not get along very well. Babies are joy. A wonderful joy that drools, poops and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I like them. I look forward to the day of being a proud expectant mom. I hope that doesn't happen in the next 10 years though - I used to be pretty damn stupid and reckless but I've learned I need to cherish the time I have to enjoy my life as a non-parent before loving the parenting stuff.

See, and I'm just happy we're not into the whole baby architecture thing yet ! I've thought about it a few times in the past, and have come to the conclusion everything has a right time and I'll eventually get to it. Right now, my life is centered and revolving around school, my family and myself and I believe that's just right. To me, that is - I'm not here to push any buttons, at least not today ;D No matter what may or may have not happened in the past, my life is on the right path with the right people in it and it will change when it has to - babies aren't exactly on the panorama right now and that's excellent.

I don't even have the guts to be a parent just yet. And I know nobody is ever truly ready, but I'll consider myself ready when I can be in the same room with a baby whose diaper is being changed. Zen mode, please.

Ahh, spending the weekend at my brother's. It's quite entertaining, although I spend most of the day by myself haha. I guess it's just a nice way to get away from my place for a while, it can get dull and hey, I have around 2 months left before my new school year starts - I have to kill time somehow.

I have some great news to share ! I got an amazing package from Seoul yesterday's afternoon. I had been looking forward to it like you have no idea and I squealed with happiness when I got it. What was inside ? My brand new Fujifilm Instax Mini 7s - why yes, pink !
Adorable, isn't it ? I had been wanting one of these babies forever, and I finally have it ! I'm really glad it's fool proof and super easy to use because, I won't lie, I'm quite a ditz at times :'D I already snapped a few pictures here and there, and I wanted to show you how it works in a video but since I'm over at my brother's I only have my webcam and the quality is so low it's not even funny. Yeah, the pics were also taken with it so they shuck :'(

Anyway, I snapped a quick picture just to show you how they look ! As soon as you snap, the pictures pop out from the top and it's kindof cute. Mind you, I believe everything in this world is cute.
See how small they are ? <3 They're about the size of a regular business card and look super cute here and there. The film pack that the Instax uses has 10 exposures and it's really easy to use, you just take it out of the pack and pop it in the back making sure the yellow indicator matches the one in the cam and you're ready to snap away - the first "picture" is just to remove the cover of the pack, after you snap that one you have your 10 exposures ready to use. I got my camera off eBay in a fairly good deal that included 4 film packs, a hard case for the cam, couple of deco pens and a really cute album that fits the pictures perfectly. I'd show you but I have no clue where it is right now. Lol.
Developing :D ! It takes less than 3 minutes and it's actually quite amusing for me to see the pictures slowly start to appear haha~ I have yet to sit through the complete process, I just look away and in a flash the pictures are ready.
See ? Glossy and so pretty ! It's so glossy it caught a glare from my laptop, my bad haha. I don't know you guys, but I don't think I'm very photogenic and have a very hard time deciding when a picture of myself is "good" - maybe this is all in my head, but damn this camera brought out my nice side. Joking, haha.

I'm so excited to finally have it ! I need to order some more film too because I'm sure I'll run out soon, but I already know of some good 'providers' so that won't be a problem. God bless ebay. My friend Jenii over at Meowfats has one of these cams too and we gushed over them on Twitter for over a week - we'll even have a picture swap eventually. Seriously, they look so cute and trading-card-like haha. If you're a fan of Polaroid-ish cameras and want a small but really nice alternative I encourage you to try this one ! I know there's a couple more of these out in the market but like I said before, this one is fool proof and just adorable ! Comes in pink, blue, white and chocolate ! Someone get it so we can gush over it :D

And here I am, once again.

Hello everyone ! Welcome to my new blog~
This is a new project I'm very eager to start ! It's been almost a year since I... ehm, abandoned my last blog, and in all honesty - I miss it ! When I first stopped blogging I thought it would be for the better, because life is always getting in the way with my precious relationship with the internet and it just seemed like the best thing for both of us to part ways. Who am I kidding though, I couldn't stay off the hook for long.

The name for this new project is Dulceholic. What does it mean, you ask ? Dulce means sweet or candy in Spanish, whereas alcoholic - well, we all know what that means. The combination is born from my love of all the sweet things in life, and not just candy (I love me some candy) but also all the stuff that makes me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I've always wanted to make everyone around me happy, so I hope my posts here will bring a smile to you all every time you read them !
